We got a new Yorkie! I haven't posted in a while for various reasons, but I have exciting news. We got a baby brother for our Lillie last night. They are actually brother and sister, same parents. Lillie is almost 4 and spoiled rotten, so we decided to get her a baby brother. His name is Fetner (don't even ask where that name came from - a long story) and he is a doll. Lillie seems very jealous and even a bit afraid of him. She'll run and hide from him. Any suggestions to make the transition smoother? |
aww congrats...when you find the time please post pictures...i love pictures...kekekk |
Congratulations on the new baby! I'm not sure how to get them to get along together, though, because I only have one. Good luck! It seems like there are several people having this problem, so maybe you can get some good advice! |
Got him a playpen... I'll post some pictures of Fetner as soon as I can get my husband to upload them - I am computer illiterate! I did go today to WalMArt and bought a playpen with mesh sides. We learned with Lillie that it is hard to leave them alone and come hoome to a mess, not to mention being worried that they will hurt themselves. Has anybody had experience using a playpen for their baby yorkie? Fetner is only 7 weeks and he had to sleep in a cardboard box last night. |
We used a playpen for Ozzie ... but only when we were home. If we left, we gave him run of the kitchen, blocking it off with a baby gate. |
Congratulations on your new puppy; I can't wait to see pictures. Good luck with the playpen. We used a crate when Rhapsody and Tiger were puppies; they each had their own, and were never left more than a couple hours -- 3 at a most. But mainly this was used for housetraining. Good luck! :D |
Congratulations Isn't it exciting??? I just today went and picked out a little brother for my Emmy (she is one year old). I actually picked up a playpen this weekend, too. I think that it will help the transition--we will see. Scampers will not be ready to pick up until mid-July. Keep us posted--I, for one, am really interested in how things go!!!! |
CONGRATULATIONS on your new furbaby! Can't wait to see pics!:aimeeyork :aimeeyork |
congratulations on the new addition. It probably won't take much time at all for them to love each other and play together. goodluck |
Congratulations!! We used a baby playpen for Conner while we were at work. It worked fine until he was about 6 months old (he climbed out while we were at work, and was waiting for my sister at the door (she would come at noon to let him out and to feed him). After that we got him a large cage where we put his bed, food, water and toys. |

Congratulations on the new family addition. Generally when you bring a puppy into the home where there is a dog several years older, the adjustment isn't really quick for the older dog. Puppies have so much playful energy that intimidates the older one, but they do tend to work things out. I'd keep the puppy in an expen attached to the front of a wire crate with wee-wee pads down and take him outside every hour till he's house trained. They can get to know each other thru the pen and outside. |
