Muzzled when walking? Hello everyone! When ever I take my lil sammy out for a walk, she has to stop at every crack in the cement and eat anything that is on the ground. I have tried pulling on the leash a little bit, but I am worried about the whole collapsed trachea thing. So, any training trips or do i need to buy her a muzzle? Thanks! |
Why dont you buy a harness instead of a leash...That way you wont worry about collapsed trachea. I havent had any luck getting mine not to eat off the floor. |
Your baby is adorable... is she a standard yorkie? I love her light coloring!! |

Oh, I remember now, she's 3/4 yorkie, 1/4 poodle, right? |
A command word to make them leave things alone would be "leave-it"! Train her with that command and your walks will be much better. Also don't use a collar to lead her. Get her into a harness. Maybe the nice padded material ones that folks make and sell her. Good luck with your little girl. |
She is beautiful, go with a harness |
Thanks for the replies everyone. I forgot to mention that i use a harness for her. I hook the leash on to her harness. I will try to use the command "Leave-it", just everytime she sees somthing, she will not stop trying to reach it. lol Does anyone recomoned a muzzle? Or that wouldn't help? And Yes, my lil Sam is 3/4 yorkie and 1/4 poodle. She looks a little bit differint now than the picture in my avatar. I guess i should post some of her new pictures on here sometime soon. She is a lot more blond now! :D |

do not use a muzzle thats just the lazy... cruel way.... train her to leave it |
When you go on walks, bring along her favorite treat or toy and keep her focus on you. The point is to make you the most interesting thing in her environment. Good luck! :) |
