fetch! Am i the only one with a yorkie that doesnt realise 'fetch' means go get it AND bring it back! Buddy loves to chase a ball or anything else that you throw for him then heads straight back to me.... then.... just as he gets close he suddenly veers off in another direction then stands looking at me! but.... today he brought into the house a disgusting muddy sandal (flip flop but i dunno if ule know what that is!), i picked it up and said eeuuuwwww get it out the house and threw it in the garden and yep you guessed, he bought it straight back to me! So i threw it again and he done exactly the same thing, fetched it perfectly and gave it straight back to me.... doh!!!!!!!! :) I'm sure he does things with a sense of humour almost like to wind us up (in a nice way) anybody else got things your pup does like this? :) |
With Coco, she will bring it back if I clap and yell "GO GET IT GO GET IT" It's funny..She'll sit there and stare until I say that then she'll bring it. |
That's the hard part of learning fetch! I still have to remind Leila to spit it "OUT!!!". |
My one year old still doesnt get the "fetch" part all of the time... so easily distracted! He does the same thing with the running after it, but the bringing back..not so much! He looks at me half of the time like..."hey lazy! you come get it!" Now my little puppy-girl is a master fetcher! From the first time, she just ran right over, picked it up, brought it back and dropped it for me to throw again... Now just watch... her big brother will let her in on the secret... "WE don't serve THEM! THEY serve US!" |
Schatzie's definition of fetch = chase after moving object, grab hold and run as fast as I can :aimeeyork |
Come on over You all want to come to my house and take turns playing fetch with mine? She does it perfectly and can go for HOURS. I believe she recently broke her own record with a 4 1/2 hour fetch session. My arm hurts! Help! :p |
Trace fetches, but you have to be sure he's paying attention to whatever you're throwing, cause he gets distracted  Our first dog, a mutt, would play fetch for hours on end and if you didn't immediately pick up and throw whatever she'd brought to play with.....she'd find something else....a stick, a pinecone, pine bark nugget, a ball etc. She'd do this until finally you gave in and played :D |
