He wont' stop licking me Lately, Simon will lick my legs or arms for what seems like forever. He could go for over a half hour... I've tried to distract him with toys, say no more, or walk away... but he always finds his way back to me and goes on licking. Has anyone experienced this? What does it mean? |
I know that human skin tastes good to some animals because of its saltiness...could that be why? |

Lilo does same thing if I let her, but I think that they are attracted to the taste of our sweat. Just stop him from this behaviour, so he wont' start doing it on other ppl. |
LOL, mine do too, Hi dear, mine do too, Kiwi tries to literally pull my husbands hair off his arms. And Carlie does lick my face, I just say "no" and put them down. My hubby usually sais " Ok that's enough and put her down.. I agree I think it is the saltiness of human skin.:) Tina:aimeeyork |
All my babies do it also. I read that this is their way of showing affection. But, I do truly believe that it is the taste of saltiness as well. If you ever throw a dirty tshirt on the floor watch them roll over it and try to make it comfy for them to sleep on. I think too, that they use this as a way to be close to you. I know it sounds stupid, but I see mine do it all the time. The smell on the shirt reminds them of you. |
It's love! :D lol |
I think yours have a foot fettish. :p |
lexi does that too, it drives me and my b/f nuts... my b/f says he has the cleanest face on long island.. it cracks me up |
Stella thinks it's her duty to wash my husbands neck and ears everyday when he comes in from work. She doesn't lick me....I must not be sweet enough:notworthy |

I saw an episode of "good dog u" the other day and there was a dog on there that was licking excessively. Both the owners and the other dogs. The vet seemed to think part of it had to do with low self esteem. The dog is kindof saying "i'm sorry" and that the worst thing to do is yell at them for this because that just makes them feel worse. I think that the vet put him on medication but maybe you could look it up on the internet because I seem to think there may have been something else he also suggested. Not sure if that fits your pup or not but thought I'd mention it. |
You gotta be a dirty puppy... LOL!!!! No offense! Mitzi gives me "facial" every morning and she really makes a meal out of my face. Maybe that's why I don't have any wrinkles at all (56:eek: ) |
most likely the saltiness is attracting your baby..keke...and since the temperature is picking up...you may be sweating more...keke |

I have never heard that before....I don't know about it either. Mojo licks constantly.....He loves my mothers toes...he will go straight to her and just wag is tail non-stop and non-stop lick....she makes it a game for him and he loves it even more! Then, my husband will come home and Mojo hasn't seen his Daddy all day, and there he goes, starts in on the licking. He gets all excited and happy and bouncing around. He will do this to me when I have to run errands and he stays home (just happy to see me, glad I'm home)...oh, and in the morning, that is how he wakes us up when he is ready for us to get up and about. Low self-esteem.....hmmm....I just don't know about that. That is an interesting thought, I will have to do some research and see what all the different people say about it, because you know....they will all have something different to say. |
