A new mommy need opinions First let me apoligize for the long post! So I picked up my Sophie yesterday after getting back from Vegas, and we had a 3 hour car ride back home well Sophie threw up twice in the first hour (poor thing) anyway She hadn't eaten since noon and we didn't get home til 10:00, so I fed her what her breeder was giving her and she only ate about half a tablespoon (she is only 11weeks and 2 lbs), at about 4:30 this morning she ate about a full tablespoon. I'm not really sure if this is enough food or not but I am glad that she ate. (the breeder is feeding Bil-Jac, a frozen meat based dog food.) She told me to wean her off of that and start her on Eukanuba small breed moistened with water. She is just nibbling on that a little. She did poop once last night but no pee, I was a little concerened but she went at 4:30 this morning after eating, the weird thing was she peed while she was drinking water. I have been trying outside training but she just lays in the grass and chews on it. She hasn't even done either since we got back up from a nap. Is this normal? She has been very playful and loves her toys, she follows me around, and is not too bad about being in her kennel as long as she can see me she doesn't whine. I hope I am being a good mommy! Thanks for reading! |
New puppy advise 4 Attachment(s) I've been raising my 11 year old Yorkie "Toy" since 5 weeks of age and he vomited in the beginning all the time when he rode in the car with me. It's because they're scared and I found that if i confined him in a small space like a carrier bag or a small kennel, he felt better about it and eventually grew out of it. I just picked up my new baby girl "Gia" last week from LAX to Phoenix and we only gave her "mother's milk" as precaution, and she did not vomit. She did however do that after we drove her home from the vet, but she was given an antibiotic shot due to a cold, so I think that's why she did that. Plus, the heat, the stress at the vet probably caused that. It's quite stressful for a dog to travel, until they get used to it! My breeder also told me to give her Eukanuba small breed puppy. She hated it and only ate a half of spoonful at a time. She's only barely a pound and a half, but I thought she should eat more. Si I looked into home cooking for both of them and surprises, surprise, she gobbles up all of her food, One good tablespoon each feeding, 4 times a day. She also chews on grass and leafs and twigs. That's just a puppy thing, getting to know their new home I guess. You mentioned he peed while drinking. Was his water too cold? I have some great recipes and upset stomach remedies. All natural based, if you're interested, PM me and I'll be more than happy to share those! For the meantime though. If he doesn't eat, make sure to give him Nutri-Cal! Good luck and congratulations on your new baby!:) |
some times puppies are scared of the new environment...so it takes some adjusting...give it some time...and she may grow out of it...wish you the best of luck! |

You are being a great mommy! Everything sounds perfectly normal. Wobie threw up 5 times in the 1 1/2 hour car ride. Its normal that their eating and peeing/pooping schedule is kind of off when they first come home. We had to nearly force-feed Wobie for the first few days he was home. I'm sure everything will be fine within the week. When is Sophie's birthday? Wobie's is March 10, and he weighs just about 2 lbs too! :D |
i hope everything is ok. |

By just worring and asking questions proves your a great mom! We worry over our fur-babies just like we worried when we became first time moms. :D It's normal. You and the new baby will be just fine I'm sure of it.;) |
