I agree 8 is old enough to understand...I have 6 (soon 7 ) grandchildren from the age of 13 to 4 and they all know how to treat my Seth and Sasha. They understand they hurt the babies they will be in serious trouble from the grandma and pap. |
I agree with everyone else that your step-daughter is old enough to understand that we NEVER hurt animals...even if it is just out of curiosity. I'd sit her down and have a talk, but in the meantime, I'm glad your baby is ok. At least you found the rubberband before it was too late! |
I am so glad that your little baby is okay. There was a story about this on Emergency Vets on Animal Planet once, but the child was only 5. She may have seen it or she may be acting out her issue with being away from home for the summer. I am a step-parent, and it is hard. I hope that you two can find some common ground or it could be a long summer. Sounds like your step-daugher needs some TLC and some help with her feelings about her situation. Good luck, and I hope that things go better for you and your poor little puppy. I would definitely make sure you supervise them both.:( |

I have a 9 year old and when I think about what your step daughter did I am sure it was a mistake...my daughter is contantly "doing" her dolls hair with elastics and probably was just trying to make your furbaby pretty and didnt realize the harm that would be done leaving an elastic on...I am not sure at 8 that I realized the damage an elastic could do...so I am sure she didnt either. Squashing bugs dosent make her disturbed lol... Dawn |

I'm really glad your little one is ok! Good thing you got up and figured it out. I would have been so scared. Hey, maybe your stepdaughter was trying to make a topknot on your pups leg! |
