Getting Buddah Neutered...Have ?? :) I think it is about time I get Buddah neutered and have some of his teeth pulled. I talked to my vet and it seems EXPENSIVE! This is the breakdown they gave me $150-neuter and IV $45-test to make sure he is safe to go under antestisa $35-pain med $10-per tooth $35- if he needs antibiotics What have all of you been paying? This seems a little much. Its $230 minimum for the neuter then plus for the teeth and and meds he will need. Also I was planning on doing this Thursday morning pick him up around 3:00...I'll be off all day with him and all day on Friday and back to work Saturday. Is that enough time with him? Thanks for all your help guys :) |
I had Betty spayed almost 2 weeks ago and also had teeth removed. Here are the charges: Preanesthetic blood profile-$42, spay-$110, extract (10) teeth-$80. Total-$232.00 |
he wouldn't need pain meds antibiotics or a test for anest. i would check elswhere |
I just paid 169 for grayson he got neutered and had 2 baby teeth pulled, I opted to pay more for the lazer surgery it is less painful for them, also I paid to have the blood work ran as well. I will give you a break down since we just did this Monday: Pre anesthetic labwork 29.00 neuter 20 pounds or less 83.00 laser level 1 30.00 metacam 1.5mg/ml10 9.00 dental extraction 18.00 added: they sent him home with 3 syringes of pain meds also |
I just had Slade done and got his rabies at the same time and it was $52- $45 for the neuter and 7 for the rabies shot |
I would go ahead and get the pre-op bloodwork done. The price sounds a bit high, but different vets charge differently. |

It doesn't seem too over the top...I've certainly heard worse. Its worth it if this is the vet you feel comfortable with. |
Yeah, there's a place here where I live that wanted to charge my mom $430 for neutering her dog, and that didn't include any removal of baby teeth, so while what you were quoted is expensive in some areas, it's reasonable in others. |
You should definitely have pre-anesthesia bloodwork, i think it would be a huge mistake not too! It's better to be safe then sorry! |
I would get the pre-op bloodwork. I'd never let any dog have surgery without it. |
