Will she ever stop!?!? Will Autumn ever stop chewing things or is that something that Yorkies always do? I know that puppies are chewers but it seems that yorkies are always chewers, is there any truth behind this? She is quick to, you drop it and she's got it off and running in a flash. I swear it does not even have to hit the floor. She is only 8 months though!:aimeeyork |
i think they stop with age. although lexi really never chewed up anything.. i still have her first toys...maybe shes the wierd one |
She will stop as she ages. Chachi was a chewer also when he was a puppy. At 1 1/2 he chewed up his dog bed and that is the last thiing he chewed up. That has been over a year ago. |
Josie never chewed anything either. She was an easy puppy. Jojo on the other hand is the biggest chewer...the corner of the walls, Josie's toys, my plants, cabinet corners and anything he can get. He's almost 8 months also. This little guy is exhausting...but I LOVE HIM!! |
I sure hope they grow out of it, lol! Koda chews on everything! Even when he is sitting on me or beside me while I am on my laptop. Their he is trying to chew on the corner of it, lol! He has many of his own toys that he plays and chews on all the time, but the toilet paper, geesh he can make a complete mess with that, lol! And it seems to be his favorite :) (no, we don't pomote TP shredding either) lol! |
did someone say exhausting?????? i havn't slept in two years.. !!!!! HA HA,, the best 2 yrs of my life |
iam happy to say, yes they do out grow it. but noy before they chewed every single leg on my tables and all the ends of my rugs:rolleyes: now they are 2&3 and just chew on there chew toys:) maybe now i can get new furniture:p |
My girl chews too - but not too bad. I do think it's funny though. Whenever she seems my underwear (thongs) she runs like a dickens away with it.....it's so funny. I often fear that we will have guests, and one will peek out from beside a chair or couch...that I didn't catch her with :) :) :) |
Mine never really chewed, but they have plenty of bones and kongs filled with peanut butter... |
They grow out of it eventually. My LullaBelle chewed all my shoes and on my sofas. lol but she did stop after awhile.:Pawprint: |

Max has just begun to grow out of it. He's a little slower to grab whatever falls on the floor. I swear, he used to have dog ESP that I was going to drop something because it was in his mouth before it even hit the floor! Now, I can usually grab it before he gets it. Of course, I have to push him out of the way. I also trained (bribe?) him to "give it to Mommy" with a treat if it's something that could hurt him. I love bribery. It always works! |
Princess doesnt chew on the things that a lot of dogs chew on like leather and wood, but she always seems to have to be constantly chewing on her toys or bone.. or something random like my hairband... i think she ripped like at least 100 of my hairbands.. |
Angel was a major chewer. Now that she has all her adult teeth in, just turning 7 months, she only chews her toys (unless she tips over a garbage can - then anything goes)!! |
Layla is a chewer.. more like a destroyer.. but thankfully only of toys that she knows are hers... and only her plastic toys.. not her nice soft ones... |
Sukoshi only chews on her own toys (knock on wood)! She's 9 months old now, so if she was going to chew on our furniture and such, I'm sure she would've already started. Whewwww! |
Conner has been a chewer since we got him. He is finally growing out of it at 14 months!!! I have chewed window sills and table legs. I think my furniture is finally safe. |
My Emily Kate is a chewer I have two yorkies. One loves plastic...plastic anything ...especially plastic water bottles. She chews them into a triangle. She actually prefers a plastic bottle over a toy. Emily Kate, on the other hand, was a year old in March. She has chewed on furniture, eaten holes in the plaster walls large enough for her to crawl into, and loves to shread paper. Her favorite thing to do is to happen upon a roll of paper towels that someone unexpectingly left down within her reach. She can really make a big mess with them. Emily Kate is forever chewing...on fingers, clothes, anything that will go into her mouth. I hope she hurries and outgrows her chewing. My husband is getting upset having to repair and rebuild the house. Actually, she can destroy things faster than we can repair them. |
Sophie is almost six, and I can't remember when she chewed anything except her food. She did like wicker when she was a pup, and she chewed the pedestal of our dining table (can't see it unless you look), but she has never destroyed a toy, and she still has the toys she got the night we brought her home. She isn't really a toy lover either. (I take that back, she did bite into a little football while she was playing with it and deflated it). Anyway, I hope that you find relief eventually.:aimeeyork |
