Belly bands? Ok so I am getting a little boy on Saturday and I am just trying to be prepared. So I have never used one before, how do they work? Also do you just keep them on all the time? Well expect when you are letting them go out for potty? Also I have seen on her people that sell the silk ones that dont mat the fur but now I cant find the Thread? |
How old is the little boy that you are getting? Most people just use them for their older, marking males - but you could also use them for when he is inside and you don't want him to potty in the house - however, puppies are constantly going to the bathroom so keeping a belly band on him all the time when he is little, there is bound to be an accident and he will probably end up going potty on it during some point ;) Also, if you are going to puppy pad train him, the belly band really isn't an option because he will need to go potty WHEN HE NEEDS TO GO inside on the pads...and a belly band will prevent him from doing so and he will end up going all over himself, and the belly band. I hope that made sense, lol. As far as how they work - it's pretty simple ;) A belly band is simply a long strip of fabric with velcro at each end that wraps around your males waist (and also covers over his "male part" ;)). You line them with a regular panty liner that you can pick up at any local store and when they mark, the panty liner absorbs it. You can find the belly bands pretty much anywhere online :) If you'd like to see a picture of them, simply type in "Dog Belly Band" online and it will pull up pictures of them so that you can see what they look like ;) Debi at Waggie Wonders (www.waggiewonders.com) makes some cute ones...and also Des at go.fetch (http://go.fetch.home.comcast.net/) Hope that helps some :) |
i also think you need to pee pad train him. he might already be started from the breeder. wearing belly bands all the time could cause aa urinary infection. I use them on Ceeby only when he has run of the house. that is not very often. I have a huge 'yorkie room". |
