Mating tips, who puts the weight factor hello, there, I was wondering who puts the weight factor when mating. Is it the male or the female. I read someplace it was the female, but i see that lots of people mate their female yorkies with smaller males. Coli is seven pounds, but looks like 5 pounds and i think that finally i m going to buy a female yorkie whose weight will be around five pounds. This is why i wanted to know who puts the weight factor or is it an average estimate between both weights. or does it have to do with wanting tiny yorkies. |

You shouldn't mate him with a smaller yorkie...Correct me if I'm wrong, breeders, but from what I've read, you need to get the same size or bigger female, definitely not smaller. It could be dangerous for the female. |
You always want to breed a bigger female to a smaller male. In your case if you use your 7 lb. male to breed it has to be with a bigger female or same size atleast, which means you will be pushing the 7 lb. standard to the limit if you use your male for breeding purposes. I wouldn't suggest getting a 5 lb. female to breed with him, breeding this way can cause alot of problems with whelping of puppies for your female. It can also cause your smaller female to die when giving birth. |
The puppy I´m going to buy the mother is the same length as my coli. The difference is that she is 5 pounds to six pounds and coli is seven, but they are the same length. This is frustrating, when a bought coli they told me he would only weigh 4 pounds and he weighs seven pounds. I really wanted him to be a father, because he is such a good dog. |
