Just like children, you really can't protect them every minute. Don't beat yourself up, obviously Daisy doesn't blame you! I was an x-ray tech for 20 years, and I've seen breaks in the growth plate before. It does not mean that there is absolutly no hope, honest! She could go on to be just fine. She sounds like a tough little cookie, and you are probably hurting more than she is right now! With all of her YT friends praying for her I'm sure she'll be ok! |
I am so sorry to hear about Daisy's accident! That is terrible. We will keep he in our prayers & let us know how she turns out. Good luck! |

I do not think this is going to hold her back to much as she has so much spirit. Every night around 10pm she runs around the house like a banshee, playing and barking and having fun. The night it happened she just cuddled, it was sad not to see her playing as she always does. But last night she was almost back to her old self running around and playing, three-legged. It was hard to try and get her to take it easy. Thanks so much Teri88 :) |
Awwwww, Sweetie. Your baby is gonna be just fine. When Jesse was 10 months old a kid broke the cardinal rule in my house, which is "ALL FOUR ON THE FLOOR!" no exceptions. He was 10 years old and knew when I looked at him and he had Jesse only about 6 inches off the floor and let him go. Same outcome...broken joint with possible growth plate involvement. I realized that day that there is an advantage to having a LITTLE dog..even if their paw grows all wonky, they are short and there is not much deformity..Take care of both of you and keep us posted.. |

OH! We will certainly pray today that everything went okay! Time is the healer! This happened to my son when he was in fifth grade. He was in a growing phase, and they never knew if the leg would be the same size as the other or not. He came out fine. So, I have hope for your baby! My brother's dog was hit by a car and lost his leg, and you would not believe lhow fast he can run and jump with three legs! I don't think he knows he is missing a leg! It's amazing! At any rate, good luck and know we are praying for her. I don't let anyone hold Snoodles unless they sit on the floor! It is a hard rule to enforce, but I do anyway! The people in the stores always want to hhold her and I just say, NO! She is too wiggly. People just don't understand the consequences of their acts. I am so glad your friend is still your friend and is paying the bills. That is truly a friend! I'm sure she feels awful! LET us know! Pat |
My thoughts and prayers are with you today, No one except true dog lovers can understand how much we love our little ones. I feel your pain rite now and I just know God will bless you and your little Daisy. You are also very lucky to have such a caring friend, I know she is just beside herself rite now. Yorkie hugs and lots of parayers to you and Daisy Wanda |
I'm so sorry about Daisy. You shouldn't feel guilty its not your fault. It could have happened to any of us. I'm sure everything will be ok. you will be in our thoughts and prayers. |
So sorry about this! I'll be hoping and praying that Daisy will be alright. Please post an update when you can. |
Im so sorry to hear about your baby. I completely feel your pain and hope everything works out for the best. |
Leg We have had 3 broken legs over the years around here...all healed well. When I hear about a bad result it is usually with a cast too tight or not waiting lone enough for a healing..one of my girls took 5 months. Pinch the toes everyday to make sure the circulation is good. Check for swelling..good luck |
Yorkie Rose, I love to hear the about the stories that turn out well, thanks for sharing. Also for your tips about her foot and cast. :) I can go and see Daisy in an hour, I called the vet and his assistant said they had to put her in full anesthesia to try to reduce her pain while setting her leg. Her leg is now in a cast and she is very groggy and sleepy but seems to be doing well. I will be leaving soon to see her and if she is able to come home. I will keep you all updated. All your prayers are working great! :yorkietal |
2 Attachment(s) Daisy is now home and resting. When I picked her up she looked better than I thought she would, giving me lots of wags and kisses, I was expecting a drowsy, sleepy puppy. She is in a bit of pain as she is having a hard time getting used to the cast. When she moves around it catches, and hurts her. She has now been sleeping for about 2 hours. I'm so proud of my brave girl. Here are a couple pics. |
What a sweet little girl! I am so glad for you and her that she is at home resting! Give her lots of love from us! |
As YorkieRose said,, time is the great healer!! Jesse was so sad looking every time we changed his cast. His cast had to be changed on the anniversary of 9-11 and I had them put a red, white and blue one on him. It was too long and I had to take him back and get a smaller one!! He was okay in 7 weeks.. |
I feel so bad for you both but definately don't blame yourself. Just yesterday Max who is 6lbs was running down the steps after me and he missed the last step cuzz he was going so fast and he fell & started to limp around and I felt so bad but nobobdy even did anything to cause it and still these dogs are little and can hurt themselves no matter how close we watch them. Keep us posted. |
Im glad that Daisy is home and resting. I feel so bad that she is in pain. Does the vet gave you pain meds? I will have Daisy in my prayers for her to heal properly. Gucci sends Daisy puppy kisses and huggies. |
so glad to hear that she pulled through ok. I feel you pain. Last night Izzy feel down our steps. We took her to the ER and she had to stay over night, the vet called me when I got home and said that her back right leg was broke and that she will have to have surgery and have pins put in. I cried all night last night and almost all day today. I did go see her today and brought her home until tomorrow morning at 8 she has to go in and have her surgery done. The vet said the surgery could take up to 5 hours. Izzy is 10 months old and weighs only 2 lbs. So if you all could add Izzy to your prayers. Thank you, Teresa & Izzy |

:getwellso Wishing Daisy a speedy recovery ! :getwellso How terrible your friend must of felt. What a trying experience for you to go through. Today I told my husband off because he was trying to teach Mya to go down the stairs. I don't want her to do that because she would be easily distracted by our other dog or cat and fall down the stairs. Our just fall down the stairs on her own. I will show him the pic of Daisy in her cast to remind him of how a small fall can cause damage never mind a tumble down stairs. Today my husband was looking for his steel toe work shoes that he has not worn in about 6 years. In one of the shoes was my s**tzu's favorite ball. It made me cry to see it. RIP - General. We talked about how General was small but so muscular. We used to say his lil legs were like Popeye's arms. I asked my husband if he regreted having a "delicate" dog now. He said that Mya is the one the best things that has ever happened to us and understands why I am so protective. The truth is that you can't be there for every second and that accidents do happen. Even I forget how tiny Mya is until she is wet from her bath or I see her sleeping with the cat and notice she is 1/3 of the size of our cat. |
Oh I am so sorry to hear this, I had a small dog about 3lbs, not sure what kind he was, his name was snowball. he jumb off the arm of my chair in the living room onto carpet and broke his leg. I felt so bad, they have little bone some of them. he did just fine, he was in a cast for awhile and he soaked up all the attention he got, If you know what i mean, he slept on my chest on a pillow, I was so worried about him. ANd showball ate it up. if you know what i mean LOL. I found with my little yorkie Angel I would put her up in my room. to keep her safe. intel she got bigger. I will keep your little baby in pray. Love will heal all things. if showball was still with us, he would tell you himself. |
I had a Westie who broke his hind leg, which is worse because they tend to stand up on their hind legs! He wore a cast and when it came off he was good as new! So, don't worry, she'll be fine! |
DOnt feel bad. It's not your fault! I will be praying for your baby! |
Continue healing Daisy and hugs/kisses sent your way!! :p |
1 Attachment(s) Lots of love from Coco to Daisy and Izzy. You are all special friends and both of you will do just great. I know it. Although the pictures of Daisy were sad looking  Get well soon little ones, we all love you  Coco is sending you a kiss from the picture. |
I saw the pictures of little Daisy in her cast, and she looks like a trooper. We're still praying for you. :) |
Thank you everyone for still thinking of us and to Coco for the kisses. Daisy is still not feeling very well, but she is resting lots and getting lots of love. |
I am glad to hear Daisy is back home with you, she will need rest for a few days and pretty soon will be back to herself. She will get around in the cast no problem ;) she will heal just fine you'll see. Sending her lots of hugs and kisses to Daisy and Izzy too! :luvu:  |
So sorry about little Daisy! Our vet says the very best medicine for these little ones is snuggling on their Mom's lap! I know this will be a difficult time for you all. We will be praying that she heals perfectly! ;) Teresa, we will also be praying for little Izzy. These babies are so brave!! :) |
