Thank you everyone, this means so much to me and Daisy to have your support. :) She is such a trooper, last night a couple hour after her fall we were watching tv and she was cuddling on my lap. My son came downstairs with a blanket over his head and she stood up with her broken leg and barked and tried to protect me and my 240 pound husband form the intruder. Even after all the pain she must of been in she was trying to protect us, when she saw it was our son she just attacked him with kisses. What spirits yorkies have. I am trying not to blame myself for what happened but it is so hard. I have been able to keep her safe around my small children for the last couple weeks but then this happened when I thought she would be safe. My friend is very upset and is paying for her medical costs. She sent flowers today and a card to apologize. Thank you SoCalyorkiLvr, it is her growth plate that is damaged, I could not remember what it was called. The vet has been calling around to more experienced vets and none feel they can do anything for her. They are also worried about putting under during surgery as she is just a pound and half. She has been in my lap or cuddling with mommy since it happened, she is eating well and has not cried other than when being x-rayed so I pray she is not in too much pain, but I am sure she must be. Thank you again :) |
So sorry to hear of Daisy's accident, we keep her in our prayers and hopefully everything will work out Hugs from Bella |
Im so sorry Little Daisy got injured. I will have her in my thoughts. I will pray for the vet to be able to help her. Im glad that your friend will take care of the vet bills. I bet she feels awful. Please don't blame yourself it was an accident. |
That is so awful! And I am sure your friend just feels so terrible! I don't quite understand what happened. Did she fall? Poor thing, hope she will be okay. |
oh bless her little heart! Prayers you want and Prayers you got big time. Hope she does well. |
I wish Daisy the best in her healing and thoughts are with you. I understand how hard it is not to blame yourself, us as humans tend to do that for those we love as it is in our nature. Just know, Daisy does not hold you in blame I am sure and as you can see by her "protection" she adore's you. Bless your friend for all she is doing by sending flowers, covering vet costs, etc. She cares so much doesn't she? Best of all I compliment your vet for going the extra effort and finding differant advise from other's educated in the best care for Daisy, he sure needs to be commended!! I will be thinking about Daisy and from what I've learned from my vet as Schatzie had leg problems, even with a bum leg a Yorkie can live a very healthy, active life with much happiness! Rest your heart and know we all here are thinking of you. :aimeeyork |

Earlier today I felt like it was the end of the world but with everyone here and the support we have got I am trying to focus on her getting better. I have been trying to find out as much as I can on the internet about her type of break and her chances of healing. I am happy to have a friend who cares and is truely sorry about what has happened, I am not upset at her at all. It was accident, I just don't think that some people can fully understand how delicate yorkies are. It is hard to believe a fall off a couch could hurt her so bad, but the vet thinks it was just the way she fell on her elbow on to the floor. I am also pleased that he cared enough to try to find someone to fix her leg. The other vets also thought due to her size that it would be best to just try to set it. Her being so young might help with her bone healing but there is the worry that with the damage to her growth plate that her leg might not grow or be deformed. I am saying lots of prayers and thinking positive thoughts that she will be alright. Thanks again everyone! It has been such a hard day and tomorrow will be hard with her having her leg set. Then after we are on our way to her recovery. |
My prayers are with you and Daisy. What happened isn't your fault. We can't prevent or protect them from everything. Many dogs heal well after broken bones. Keep your chin up and know many people are here to support you :) |
You have our biggest puppy prayers! I believe that prayer does work and you have ours! X's and O's from Rocky! |
Praying hard for for Daisy. You seem to be in good hands as your vet is seeking proper assistance for her. |
dianne I cant tell you how frustrating it is to get people to realise its not just yorkie pups you cant leave on the couch its any puppy! I have my new yorkie baby she is 10 weeks old tomorrow and 1pound 7oz and ive had friends staying and Ive had to take her off them as they just have her up in the couch and then just leave her there also a friend of my husbands picked her up and I ended up taking her off him because He wasn't holding her safely I dont care who I offend its just too bad I love my baby and Ill do anything to protect her Wow that feels better now Ive got that off my chest :D :) dianne :) |
Prayers are on the way for you, and Daisy. |
I just dropped her off at the vets for her little leg to be set. She was shaking so bad and vet kept her wrapped up in her favorite blanket. I had to fight back the tears while walking out, it was so hard to leave her. But I know that she is there to be fixed, but still so hard to think about her suffering. Its going be a long day as I can't pick her up till after 3:30 and its not even 9:00 yet. :( Thanks for your prayers. :) She is such a sweetie. |
