can anyone here recommend me any book about yorkie? i'd like to know more about this breed. thx. :) |
Ive seen, "Yorkshire Terries for Dummies" mentioned on here several times but I've never checked myself...maybe the library ?....they make very helpful books on other subjects, so maybe this is good too.... |
I'm a reader, and also wanted a book when I first got my Yorkie, I figured that would be the best way to get all the info...Well I skimmed through several books and magazines..even bought a couple...but I realized, after being here for just a short time, that YT has the most useful info..;) |

Happy Reading! and Welcome to YT!:aimeeyork |
I have like 10 books or so, but they didn't teach me nearly as much as I learned on YT...I'll post the names of the books later, if you still want to know. |
I love the Terra-Nova line of dog books. I think they have one for every breed. There is always a picture of the particular dog on the front, and the title (in this case), is "The Yorkshire Terrior". It is by Deborah Wood and Wayne Hunthausen, DVM. I still consult my copy now and again. |
I bought the Yorkshire Terrier Handbook, and thought it was a really good introduction to the breed! It helped my mom, too, who dogsits while I am at work. I also bought the dog whisperer book and the complete idiot's guide to dog tricks, both of which have been invaluable tools for me! I went to Borders and found a pretty complete section on yorkies. I bought a cup of coffee and browsed through several books (don't feel guilty- I used to work there, and know that they encourage it... they make $$$ on coffee that way!) I also suggest the library, but my little town has such a dinky library that most of the books they have are out of date! I've heard Yorkies for Dummies is a really good one, too. I agree though, that nothing has been more helpful than yorkie talk! It's like an organic pool of information!!! I love it! -O |
I have almost all the books i can find on yorkie and maltese...every book i learn something new... i like books with color pictures make the reading a bit more interesting...keke...books that are in black and white or without pictures i just scan thru for what i am looking for... you might want to look at the book that AKC has out for the specific breed and standands...alot of useful info and resources... |
I have a books called "The Yorkshire Terrier" by Deborah Wood and "Yorkshire Terriers for Dummies", and I've found both to be helpful. But, what I've found even more helpful is reading this forum. That way, you get real experiences from real people which is so much more valuable than anything you can read in a book. People here are always willing to answer questions, and I found the "Training" forum to be especially helpful before I got my yorkie, and I still refer to it. :) |
