Ignorant pet owners Saturday morning after puppy class I was browsing the aisles of PetSmart. Sophie was on her leash and was sniffing the floor around me. Some other customers walked by with a big, big dog on a leash. Sophie turned around and tried to get close enough to sniff, but the BIG dog seemed afraid of Sophie. I picked Sophie up so that she wouldn't scare the *80 lb dog* :D and then the owner said to her dog, "Go get her, ____" I don't remember the name of the dog. I was appalled! No pet owner should ever encourage their pet to 'get'/attack another dog! I looked at my son and said "Ignorant people should have the privilege of raising pets" and continued my browsing. I hope they got the message. I'm sure they were embarassed that their dog was afraid of a teeny Yorkie, but they handled it very badly. |
Well Handled I would have been angry too!! People frustrate me when it comes to raising pups |
That is a tad scary! Hopefully they were joking and knew that their big dog was a scaredy cat and wouldn't hurt your baby, but, if not, they need to be reported. Wee they in the class? |
lol...Maximus was walking around the block with me and a person on the other block and 4 houses down has a big pit bull looking dog..and Maximus nosy as ever started running on his lease (dragging me with him..practically..lol)over there at which point the dog bolted in the house (Maximus never made it close enough to him)...the owner ran outside to see what happened at which time I had already picked Maximus up and told him in my stern voice NO!!, do nice...and she had the nerve to tell me that this was a very child friendly block and I should watch my dog..so I told her a. he's on a leash, b. all the kids LOVE him and c. I hadn't heard of any 3 lbs yorkies killing or hurting anyone and I was sorry he scared her dog but he is just FRIENDLY.... |
That is ignorant!! Good for you making your comment hopefully you said it loud enough and they heard you. That was very irresponsible as a dog owner!!!! sue |
Good for You :bravo: ! I hope they got the point but if they were ignorant enough to make a comment like that, then it probably just went over their head. I am glad you said something though!!! |
As I've always said, "the more people I see, the more I love my dogs".... Of course I only mean this towards the ignorant one's as you had come across at the store. Hopefully this person took notice, thought about it, and with any luck will NEVER say such things again. Ugh! Some people, God help them! |
I was at Petsmart this weekend with my new yorkie/maltese mix and I had this teenage boy with a pit bull mix say to me, "that's not a dog--that's a snack for my REAL dog!!!" My boyfriend was outside with my other dog and I went and got him. I walked up to the boy and said "NOW YOUR DOG IS THE SNACK" (My other dog is a 130 lb Alaskan Malamute). I usually don't respond to ignorance but he ticked me off. |

He just looked at my dog with a stupid look on his face. My malamute is so gentle but looks scary |
I hope this person was kidding, or I would have lost my temper and gone off. I am normally shy and quiet, but I would not put up with that!! |

I use to breed pits, and you're right it's ignorant people like that that give the breed a bad name. I socialized all my pits, even the babies, and I never would encourage one to go after anyone or anything. Never mind making rude comments. People are totally ignorant some times. You just want to punch them in the nose. |
