Yorkie names Trying to find a name that the whole family likes-any suggestions for a Yorkie boy that will probably be about 3 pounds or so full grown? Thanks in advance- Jesus loves you! |
Always difficult finding a name!! I would be tempted if I had a real tiny like that to name him Max or Hercules, Rambo or something like that!! On the other hand a name that reflects his tiny size - are you planning to name him before you have him? It's so tempting to do that and I always have, being unable to resist the temptation but if we'd waited a while with baby Gizzie (4months) we'd have probably called her a different name after a glove puppet here in Wales 'cos she makes exactly the same noise lol! As it was Gizzie was named in tribute to a former much loved yorkie whom we sadly lost at the age of 14 - another idea if you have had former dogs? Let us know what you decide!! Good luck! |
Welcome to YorkieTalk and congratulations on your new baby!! If you have never owned a Yorkie .... you are in for a real treat!! Do you already have your baby? Naming him should be great fun! Give us a few suggestions ... our little girl is "Toto" ... long story! Everyone thinks she is a boy at first! Where in Alabama are you? We are from east central Alabama, but will be in Colorado for several years because of my husband's work. It's beautiful here but was difficult to leave 80-90 degree warmth for this cold ... brrrr!! ;) |
I am kind of coocoo...so when i decided to get a puppy i knew i wanted a different name. So, while watchig Austin Powers i had this grreeeat idea of naming my dog Mojo, now i can always say i got Mojo :D. After finding out that it was a real word and even had a nice meaning (charm, sex appeal) i was sure that this was it. Now, his "official" name on the pedigree is Hulk..heheh cuz he was the biggest of the litter. |
Mojo and Hulk, those are great names! We went with Hercules for our little guy and we're loving it. We always get a laugh when we tell people his name, especially when they look at all 2 pounds of him! |
welcome to yorkie talk. naming them can be had. I know for my charlie it was hard we try to take part of his mom and dad name. |
Oh, I love Hulk. That is cute. Let's see if I had a boy yorkie, I'd probably call him Bailey. I've always liked that name for some reason or another. I think picking a name will come to you and your family. It all depends on what the puppy looks like. Also, at first don't be afraid if you love a name and want to name him that but find that it doesn't stick. It will stick after a few days. I thought the name Luna would never stick but now I love it and it fits her. Hope my little piece of advice helps! :D |
Hmm........tons of names. I like Yoshi, Dakota (could be male or female), Cajun, Casanova, Orlando.......but you may not like them!! :) |
MoJo!!!! LOL, What an awesome name. My husband loves Austin Powers. We have a little girl Paris...but if we ever get a boy...I am going to steal your name. :p Cheers, QTParis |
Yeah...funny thing is that i picked the name before i got him but the name fitted him perfectly right and he answered by his name right away...now i only have one problem and would like your help, i am gonna get a female soon, so what should i name her?:( |
We picked out the name Yoda before we got him too. It fits so well now! :) Hmm, maybe you can pick something that complements Mojo? Like Voodoo? Kazaam? Sorry, I'm not too creative this morning! |
How about Karma for a name?? For some reason when I saw fasteddie's response of Kazaam, Karma entered my head. Oh, and Yoda is an awesome name too. I could never think of some of the cool names I've heard you all come up with! |
Babbie, I have a ton of girl names from when I was chosing a name for Mei Mei!! Here it goes: Mela,Saria,Sofie, Sienna, Priscella (my friends rolled their eyes to this one!), Maiya, Maoli, Misha, Suki, Serenity, Bianca, Tashi Lin, Izabel, Keesha, Makita, Maleigh,Toshi, Brea, Chloe, Bebe,Mikayla, Cayenne or Cheyenne, Clarabel,Pebbles, Kiki (my husband absolutely hated this name and said no way!), Ginger and Leila. Jesussavedme, Here are a few more male names I found from when I was going to name my Shih Tzu male: Enzo,Jacobi or Jakobie, Jakoba, Juno, Mica, Koya, Bonzai, Kabuki, Pablo, Mookie, Rojo, Kona, Mocha, Kilo, Paco, Armani (husband rolls his eyes to this one!), Kenzo, Mambo, Buda, Auggie, and Cairo. As you can tell, I certainly had fun picking out names for my three dogs and kept the list!! LOL! :D :D |
Karma goes well with Mojo I think.... sort of a ying and yang... I like it! :) |
I actually wanted something with the same initial (family thing...we like to match names :D) So...since i live in florida i was thinking of maybe calling her Marlin (from Marlins the baseball team) What you guys think? Mojo and Marlin? I also liked Maiya and Misha....i am open to suggestions! hehehe |
Maybe Mimi? Mini? Missy? Momo? Madge? Midge? Misty? Marie? Monet? |
fasteddie...you should write a book with names for pets, u're full of ideas!;) |
Babbie, I think Marlin is very cute!! Misha would be great too! :) Fasteddie, I love Mimi! But that is what we call my grandma and I had actually thought about that name for Mei Mei, but my grandma said absolutely not!! LOL! :D |
Hahah, well, ya gotta listen to Grandmama! Mei Mei is neat, very, very distinct and different, are you an Asian? Because Mei Mei means sister (I think little sister) in Chinese... Babbie: Thanks, here's a couple more: Money, Molly, Manny, Milly, Miller, Malloy, Muggy, Mufu, Miffy, Muffy... :) |
Hey fasteddie, I am not asian, but my husband is chinese! I thought Mei Mei meant "pretty pretty" in chinese? I will have to ask him again. :) I believe the Panda Bear here in San Diego at the zoo, is named Mei Mei, and she is quite famous around here! I have always liked that name and decided to name my little yorkie Mei Mei after Mimi (grandma) said 'No' to that name!! LOL :D |
Ahh, well, in Chinese many 'words' sound the same but have different meanings, yes, now I remember Mei Mei can mean 'pretty' too! :) |
Babbie, I like Marlin and it sounds great with Mojo..... By the way, my daughter has a yr. old Italian Greyhound named Mojo. :) :) |
I like Duke or Artichoke for a Yorkie. |
I thought "Mei Mei" means "little sister." And "Pow Lang" means "pretty." Those are two of the seven chinese words I actually know, besides some dim sum words and "Can I have ice water" and "Can I have a fork" and "I gotta take a dump." |
I just named my little boy Ceasar. He's 12 weeks. Now I'm getting a little girl and I'm looking for a big name for her. |
JesusSavedMe: Since you're getting a little boy maybe your family would like a "big" Biblical name for him like: Samson, Goliath, King David or Abraham. |
