Hi Hi, i have a weikrd question. I just purchased a yorkie. (Already in love) My friend has a yorkie, and said that my yorkie should not have any white on her,(she has white hair on belly and a toe) why so? Is she wrong or right or why care? |
Why care? Unless you want to breed or something, does it really matter, you are already in love and that's what counts! I don't know a lot about it but I heard that a little white as a pup meant the adult would be lighter colored. But you have to consider the source, it was from a breeder trying to sell my friend a puppy. It will be interesting to hear what the experts here at YT have to say about it though. Good question, not weird at all! I'm happy that you found a yorkie to love, congrats! :aimeeyork |
Maximus is black and on his belly he has tan and some white mixed in...on top his hair is starting to grown in a little whitish/silverish in some areas....I think it is "normal"..but I am no expert..someone here will have the answer |

(my mom said he is getting grey) |
Congrats on the pup and welcome to the forum!! AKC only accepts a couple color combinations in Yorkies, and white is not included. But if you're not planning on conformation showing, enjoy your pup! They are wonderful! :) |
My macy is the same way. She has a lil white showing on her head and a lil on her paw. I dont plan on showing or breeding her so it doesnt matter to me. |

When we got Maggie, she had a tiny white spot on her chest about the size of a pencil eraser. She was the only one in the litter that had it. It sure was easy to pick her out each week upon visitation. Her hair is now stripping out on her head. Looks like silver hair at the roots with black tips. We don't care what color she is. Her breeder guarantees them for two years---like I would even think of trading her in. Love is Love, no matter what the color is. Congratulations on your new baby. |
Hi and welcme to yorkie talk. This Q came up recently and a coupleof the more knowledgeable breeders responded with the fact that most yorkies puppies have some white on them at birth. It is not rare or uncommon and not a condern. As the puppy ages it usually goes away and blends in and, if it doesn't it doesn't matter. It may be a slight "fault" under "show" rules, but it is still a beautiful yorkie. I own a white and gold yorkie and the Biewers have a lot of white in them, The reasonis that the yorkie breed was developed tless than 200 years ago by breeding several kinds of terriers and the maltese. There will always be white popping up even thought the AKC breed standard says they should be black and tan. Have fun on Yorkie Talk and congrats on your new baby!! |
my litte girl had a white head when she was young but now its gone. I dont htink its anything toworry about. welcome |
If you look at puppies on some websites , you'll there are many with white on chest . Don't worry about it . |
Bentley had a little silver on his head when he got him..not very much tho..just a little spot..and now almost his entire head is silver! and he's also got silver undercoat now... when i got him i figured he'd be a darker yorkie! boy was i wrong!! but i dont care what color my baby ends up! i'll love him no matter what!! |
