Warning about harnesses Please make sure your harnesses, especially the step in type, are adjusted so they fit snugly before you take baby out on the lead. Twice now Gracie has slipped out of her harness, both times at a large park thank goodness. It really scares me when this happens as she has not yet learned "come". We are working on it but it is very hard for her to generalize from home with a treat to outside! |

I bet that was scary! Thanks for the reminder to keep the harnesses snug on our furbabies :) |
what stores sell small harnesses? i got the smallest one at petsmart and tightened it all the way and its still a little big for roman (11 weeks, 2lb 3oz)...he'll grow into it eventually, but for now im still a little worried |
I ordered mine online, mostly custom sizes, I cannot remember from where. Even the gentle leader easy walk harness loosens up. The slider clips just don't hold the fabric. If anyone has found one that stays secure, please let me know! |

Thank You! Thank you for this timely warning/reminder about harnesses. Now that the weather is nice and we are all getting out more it cannot be stressed enough to be sure to do regular safety checks on all of the "restraint" equipment we use on our kids. A few minutes at least once a week checking for wear and tear on harnesses, leashes, etc. can safe a life. As the OP said, please be sure that the particular type of harness you are using is the right size and fits properly. |

I got a cat harness, and it fits better than the xs (smallest they had) dog harness. It was also about half the price! -O |

And thank you for the reminder Gracie2006! :D |
Cetacea I purchased a harness (step-in) from Cetacea. I got the smallest size. It works great! I plan to order another one in a different color. The only drawback is the shipping cost. Be sure to check the regular fedex shipping--not the overnight (overnight is more than the harness)! |
Thank you for this reminder. I just got Daisy a new harness and have been adjusting it and tightening it as we use it. I am so glad I got the fit snug enough because a couple of weeks ago Daisy jumped over a small wall into a LAKE!!!! Luckily the harness was snugged up enough that hubby was able to pull her up and out of the lake by the harness before she was even totally wet. All the same, I about had a heart attack watching my baby go over that wall into the lake. |
Vickie isn't getting out of her's but she's trying to chew it off. :thumbdown |
there are some harness vest for sale on the (yorkie products for sale) disscussion. |
Great reminder! Thank you~ I just got some harnesses from Chattiesmom and they are fantastic. She makes them so you can get them just the right size!!! |

it was a good idea for you to post this. I can't tell you how annoying it is when customers come in to drop or pick up their dogs from our spa and then can't seem to understand why their dog gets out of their collar or harness. It should be common sense to make it a proper fit! Would we go out and buy a bra or shorts or shoes that only "kinda fit" but were slightly big? No, I don't think so. |
thanks for the letting us know...keke...i had that happen a few times too in the past...and glad to hear that everything is ok now... |

I also have the Puppia harness and it works great. It slips over the head and has a band around the belly. |
