Wisconsin has quite a few puppy mills..... TMJ4 has been doing a whole series of reports on mills in our state. Here's an interview WTMJ did back in '99 with Gerald Schulz, who operates a kennel out of Sheboygan, WI, called "Pretty Penny Kennels" http://www.nowisconsinpuppymills.com...interview.html If you Google him and the kennel name, you should be able to find more info on the place.... An anti-puppy mill group in WI has a nice site set up with more stories and information... http://www.nowisconsinpuppymills.com/ |
The round table discussion is being held at the library in my hometown. I think I ought to go |

I just can't stomach this, but feel so helpless...I know if something like this happened in my community I would do whatever to get this stopped...maybe the best thing we can do is open our mouths...tell everyone that will listen and even some that won't...we can not sit back and let this continue...How can he possibly state that he loves dogs...BULL****!!! |
1 Attachment(s) You know how I feel about this Villette! I've got 3 of them right by me... One having over 100 yorkie pups born every year. Her best friend has over 60 dogs in cages.. Breeding cross bred "Designer dogs" yeah .. right just POUND PUPPY's... Can't improve on the breed just mass produce pups.. many with defects.. 3 big mill shut down in Michigan last yr but they just change their name or move and start right up again.. All three of mills by me sell everything with full reg.. 2 of the 3 sell several breeds of dogs as well.. You know I've been breeding yorkshires for over 20 yrs now.. Only Yorkshires.. I still have stuff I want to improve.. Your never happy all the way with a dog if your a breeder as their is no perfect dog.. but when you breed for gosh sakes.. Try to improve on what you have instead of just mass producing pups for the greed of it.. I don't believe anyone should be making a living off of breeding dogs.. It's something that should be taken very seriously as with the down fall of many of the breeds the faults causing death are on the increase big time.. Many dogs only living for a few short yrs before dying.. Or having to be on meds the rest of it's life because a breeder don't care or a mill don't care.. If you can't improve on a breed just own pets.. but that's in my perfect world.. |

For Saturday , we organized a walk against puppymills , we will visit petstores too . I don't know if the peoples will be glad to see us there but one thing I am sure , I'll be happy to let them know what I think of them . Sunday , it will be our doggie day walk . |
Puppymills suck! How do they stay in business?? I don't understand how our government can allow this. It's so absolutely sickening and disgraceful. Poor animals deserve a fair chance at life. |

Wallace Haven was interviewed for a NY times article back in Feb. http://www.nytimes.com/2007/02/04/ma.../04dogs.t.html Here's an excerpt. "The scene was rather lawless; later that afternoon, I would watch four schnauzers nearly destroy a fifth in a fight before an employee pulled it out of the pen. I happened to spot a poodle stop humping a Shih Tzu and hobble, very painfully it appeared, into the corner on an injured foot. When I pointed it out to Havens, he calmly slid a slip of paper from his shirt pocket and wrote down the pen number, 541, so that someone could check on it after lunch. “Good for you,” he told me as though I were learning the business. Havens was recently suspended by the A.K.C. for 10 years after refusing a follow-up kennel inspection. He claims that the A.K.C. inspector cited him for things long deemed acceptable, to punish him for his promotion of designer dogs and his increasing use of another registry service, thus no longer paying the A.K.C. thousands of dollars in registration fees. The A.K.C. denies any such motivation, saying that it has stepped up enforcement of a care-and-conditions policy over the last decade and is glad to go without registration income from breeders unwilling to comply. Recent U.S.D.A. inspection reports show many incidences of dogs kept with inadequate bedding in near-freezing temperatures at Puppy Haven or with excessively matted hair or insufficient veterinary care. Havens retired 75 adult dogs, no longer useful to him as sires or dams, to the Wisconsin Humane Society over the last year. According to the humane society, many of the dogs had to be treated for debilitating fears of noise or people before they could be adopted. Some animal-welfare advocates, while noting that most large kennels kill older, unproductive dogs, also condemn shipping them off to shelters, seeing it as a shifting of responsibility. In response, Havens says that he prides himself on his unwillingness to put his dogs down and that there is a tremendous demand to adopt the smaller purebreds he uses." |

Would you mind posting the letter? It might make it easier for some to just copy it and mail it off under their own signature. |

This website accepts Paypal. Does anyone know if Paypal would be opposed to working with someone like this? If he can't make money as easily atleast we would be slowing him down. |
Down with Puppy Mills!!! Did anyone watch the video in the second link attached? If you did there were other videos listed to the right of the viewer, watch the one titled "Town Hall Meeting on Puppy Mills"...apparently a town meeting was held 2 weeks after the investigation, Wisconsin State Representatives were there, when questioned they said they were really going to look into some legislation concerning puppy mills because of the big turn out at the meeting. We just need to keep on them to make sure something is done. I'm up for it!! |
