Here is a link to the breeders that are affiliated with the YTCA. This way if you and your girlfriend decide to adopt from a YTCA breeder, you will be certain of what guidelines your breeder has followed and this will account for being assured against most defects or health problems since they won't breed a dog that has not been checked and examined. CODE OF CONDUCT 1) Assistance and encouragement shall be willingly offered by members to show novices and others needing advice and guidance. The welfare of the breed will be in their hands in the future. 2) All dogs will be kept under safe and sanitary conditions, be given maximum health care and protection, including regular inoculations and proper nutrition. 3) Healthy spacing between litters will be a priority and unspayed bitches will be protected from unplanned matings. Be careful if you look at these breeders..this is the site one of the pup I had came from..had it two month and it started to have sever seizures. The woman didn't care about the pup or me after the sell. |
That sounds exactly like where we got Bandit. Later one of the people on here did an investigation. She found out that our puppy was from a puppymill. They told us he was from a breeder. He died when he was 14 wks old. I would be extra careful if I were you. I would hate to see what happened with Bandit happen to you. Especially because you waited so much. Also don't just settle for one dog becuase you want one. Wait till you find the puppy of your dreams. |
wow! dont some of these topics grow into something much much bigger! I just hope you make a decision either way that you are happy with and that you end up with a gorgeous happy puppy. As for size i love yorkies, huge, big, small, tiny, tall short fat skinny etc lol who was it that said 'size matters' :p or was that nothing to do with yorkies???? lol |
LOL..I have to agree I love my Maximus any size..lol, the breeder said about 5 lbs..although that had absolutely nothing to do with my decision..he had 2 sisters smaller then him and one of the girls was the runt of the litter (is that correct term?)she could have said 20 lbs. and I still would of gotten him and at 3.5 lbs at 14 weeks I think he will surpass 5 and go a little past 6..lol |
Same here regarding size...I was told approximatly 6/7 lbs (since Sammi's mom was 8lbs and her dad 3lbs) now Sammi is 13 lbs :) Do you think it could be from the Sunday pasta dinners she gets :) JK XoXoXO |
well thats it after taking the subway 49 stops from begining to end and walking after that like 15-20 blocks. i told them i was not taking the dog it was hard i saw it sitting wondering when she was leaving but i hope some nice family will take her.. now i am on the hunt for a little girl hopefully i can find one soon. if anyone has suggestions lmk jackr32@gmail.com Jack |

good luck on your search ! |
I hope she finds a good home. |
Vets are not necessarily the best source of info about narmalcies in individual breeds. The info on here will be more correct when it comes to non-medical concerns. I learned about eye flash the expensive way a long time ago. I hauled 3 dogs and pics to the vet demaning he find out the cause of the different colors in their eye flash. About $125.00 and I parted company with no anser. A breeder looked at the pics and was spot on with the coat texture. Warm colors-(orange, red, gold, yellowish)wooly coats; cool colors-blues, grens, aquas..silky coats.. Not an old wives tale!! p.s. ALWAYS ASK TO SEE THE REG PAPERS ON ANY PUPPY YOU ARE CONSIDERING BUYING. If the breeder is not local you can bet your paycheck that puppy is either from a mill or commercial breeder.. |
Anyone else have puppymill guilt feelings? Janine & Jack-Welcome! You are lucky you found YT before you bought a pup!! I have read every reply and I'm sitting here having guilt feelings! The story behind our Pippa is that our daughter's boyfriend gave her to Alyssa for Christmas-talk about the wrong kind of gift/bad timing/impulse buy! He didn't even ask us if it was ok to give her a dog (in our dog-less home). Of course the minute I saw her I was in love. I had never been a dog person-but boy I am now. Anyway, he bought her from a lady who met him half way to pick her up-he drove 2 1/2 hours to get her. She was 13 weeks old and weighed all of 2 lbs. I took her to the vet the next day. She had kennel cough and had to take amoxicillin for 10 days. The vet suspected she was probably in a puppy mill with lots of other dogs. Boy did I feel bad!! Still do. I want another Yorkie, but this time it will come from a reputable breeder-I want the breeder to check me out thouroughly. I shudder to think what kind of home Pippa could have ended up in-this lady didn't ask any questions and sold her for $500.00 because she was the runt. On the size standpoint, Pip is probably full grown now(11 months old) and only weighs 3 lbs and about 8 oz. If other tinies are like mine, they are picky eaters and it is a constant battle to make sure she gets enough to eat everyday. I worry that she's not eating enough constantly. Thank heaven for Nutrical! Good luck in your search. You will be happy you made the decision you did. Tiffany & Pippa |
