thanks for the replies everyone. He seemed to be doing better last night, but a few minutes ago it started bleeding again. I called the vet & they want me to bring him in - so he has an appointment at 3. Poor little guy :( He seems happy enough though, he's only in pain if you touch it. I'll let you know how it turns out. Thanks!

Years ago my cat had a bump that was an abcess that burst open. I honestly thought someone shot her it looked that bad. Our vet said that had we brought her in earlier it would not of gotten so bad. I believe an abcess can also cause a form of blood poisioning? Our cat was put on antibiotics and had the area cleaned out and needed a couple of stitches.
Please don't wait till it gets that bad.

I just saw this thread...How is he doing? :eek:

I've never heard of anything like that. Strange that it just started bleeding now (2 weeks or so after you first noticed it).

I hope it isn't anything serious!

Jessica, I do hope it isn't anything serious, and I hope you feel better soon, it seems like you are taking it worse than Tucker. Please let us know what the Vet has to say.

Thanks everybody! I took Tuck to the vet yesterday & it was very emotional. He was screaming so loud!! When I came out of the vet's office the people in the waiting room said that his screaming was the saddest thing that they ever heard :(

Well, they didn't really know what it was, but think he probably hit his head and that the bump somehow became infected. They gave him a shot for pain and put him on antibiotics. The sore was SO nasty and painful looking.

OH - and they had to shave his head!!! He looks like such a goof - poor little guy! We're calling him Friar Tucker!!

He was in a lot of pain last night, but he seems to be back to his old self this morning. We'll see how it goes. Thanks again everybody for thinking of him. He apreciates it...

I am so happy that Tucker is doing so much better. I'm no vet, only a retired Health Official, but you described his wound perfect. Without looking, I was almost certain it was an abcess. They are nasty, but treatable. Maybe now we need to find Tucker a little knit cap for his little head. ;)

I just saw this... I hope Tucker is feeling better! Hopefully the antibiotics will knock out the infection fast!

Poor baby - no one said a yorkie had to be brave - I don\'t blame him for screaming...poor little guy - I bet you just wanted to cry hearing that !

I\'m so glad it was something treatable and he\'s feeling better...I\'ve been looking for you to post about Tucker - that\'s such good news !

Chanel and Cheri want him to know they go for that SHAVED look - they think it\'s hot :D

You tell widdle Tucker all his aunties are happy he is feeling better BUT we will wait a while before giving him a big smooch on the head!!!

Poor little Tucker. Im happy is something treatable. He will be fine after taking the antibiotics. Please keep us posted. Gucci sent soft kisses and huggies.
