Maybe she'll still change, but I really do love her dark coat. |
I didn't know they were "supposed" to turn silvery???? My cottony monster is still black and tan, but not a very dark black. Kaya is silky and her hair is confused. You can see her pics in the GE forum. It's black and tan and silvery/brownish.... She is 20 months old. All the show dogs are black and tan, aren't they? |

I think Layla is so beautiful! I wouldn't want her to change at all! |
I think Emma and Layla are about the same age, and I think they have close to the same coloring. Emma was born in March of 2006-which makes her 17 months old right now-is that close to Layla's age? Emma's still really dark on her body, with a little silvery hair on her shoulders and hips. I think since Emma's a cotton coat, she will probably stay darker than some. I love her dark coat, and I hope she'll keep some of her dark color. Milli, on the other hand, is already getting her silver underneath her darker puppy coat. I'm growing her hair out since she has such a nice silky coat, but don't want to cut off the blacker hair right now. When I parted her hair yesterday after her bath, she is lighter underneath. Milli was born at the end of November 2006, so that makes her almost 9 months old. Milli's daddy is pretty light in color, and I think she'll look more like him than her mommy when she's grown up. |

2 Attachment(s) Just thought i'd say that I think Layla's coat looks kinda similar to Benjamin's, this is him. He's 16 months. |
brownies 5 & still black but hes gold Black & gold :D |
3 Attachment(s) Izzy just turned a year old and is still black with a few silver strands. Marcella, it looks like Layla and Izzy have similar coloring too. I think they are cute either way but it is interesting how they change.:) My best friend was bummed when I told her that his colors might change to a lighter shade...she likes the black and tan. So far, no big change yet. Just around his face..so she's happy! :p Here are some pics: 1. Izzy at 12 weeks 2 & 3. Izzy at 12 months |
Someone on YT told me that you can't show a dog that is black and tan - it has to be blue and tan or blue and gold! It's all very confusing to me though. Kalina looks like she will be black and tan like her mother. I bought her as a pet, so it doesn't matter to me. And Layla is perfection no matter what. :) |
Well no matter what, your Layla is a beautiful little girl! :D |

Kacee is silver and tan and now at 28 months of age I noticed along the hairline in the middle of her back that her hair is turning dark again - kind of a dark smokey gray. The new color has grown out about an inch, so I guess I'm never going to see her all one color on her back!:D |
Both my Shayley and Gracie have retained their dark colors and I think they are so beautiful that way!!! :p I always loved your Yorkie Avatar and I think she is so beautiful and shiny. Black and Tan or Black and Gold is one of the four colors AKC had on their registration papers, so "no" they should not all progressively turn blue (silver/grey). :p |
Thank you all for my daily dose of confusion!!!! :D |
