If you are expecting puppies, watch out for long hair I just wanted to let you know that if your Yorkie is expecting puppies, their long hair can be deadly to newborn puppies. My mother-in-law has a kennel (toy poodles, Maltese, and Yorkies). She trimmed an expecting female Yorkie back, but didn't cut the chest hair. Her puppies were born nice and healthy. She went to the store, came home, and found one of her puppies strangled in the chest hair of the mother. Just a friendly tip! :animal-sm |
OMG - that's terrible !! who would ever think that could happen - GREAT warning for new yorkie moms in waiting... |
It really was terribly sad. When Tiah had her second litter I didn't know to trim her back. I know my mother-in-law did, but I thought "Why shouldn't Tiah still get to look beautiful just because she is having babies?" Thank God nothing happened to her pups. I cut her hair back this time, and she is still beautiful! |
That is so sad. The book I was reading last night mentioned that could be a possibility. |
How incredibly sad.... not something you'd expect if you didn't know. Ana x |
OMG thats awful! Im not a breeder myself, but even so that is something that I would never had considered. So sad |
I am sorry for the loss of the puppy. That is so sad. I would not even think of hair being a danger to puppies. You probably have saved some puppies with your post. |
