Excellent Orlando area emergency vet! Just in case anyone in the Orlando, Florida area ever needs an emergency vet, the Lake Underhill Animal Hospital on the corner of Gaston Foster and Lake Underhill is excellent! Very caring and the head doc is considered one of the best surgeons in the country! Most all the local police dogs are seen there. I would definitely recommend them if need be. |
I just realized how important it is to have the vet's cell phone or home phone number. But even if I did, I doubt it that he would be able to see Buttercup. NOt to offend or upset anyone but I believe that a lot of vet's in Houston just want MONEY and really doesn't care about how your pet turn out to be or their well being. I've been through about 10-11 vets in two years and still haven't found one that I am satisfied with. |
Wow , I am so glad when I read your post that he was eating a lot! Poor baby was feeling sick. The smell is most likely his ears. I doubt it could be his incision. My little one had filthy ears and had an infection in one ear. The smell was not all over the house but if you carried him it smelled like rotten milk and cheese. I kept up with the earflush drops and cleaned his ears twice a day. I was shocked how much nasty crud came out of his ears! It looked like globs black butter! I had Cookie neutered and he did not smell like that. I did wait about 2 weeks before I gave him a bath. Genie Cookie Lola Angel |
So glad you got him in & he's doing better. I would just use some baby wipes for now. Usually it's 10 days before bathing. I even sprayed a little dog colone on them to help with the smell. |

I was thinking about you that night and said a prayer that your journey would be safe.:aimeeyork There is cologne to use is specifically for dogs between baths, just don't spray it near the incision. I wouldn't bathe him either, the wound area should be kept clean and dry. |
If he's still a bit stinky - you can use powder. There is a dry shampoo powder from Petsmart - but it's practically just like baby powder. Just sprinkle some on a brush and brush it through his fur, avoiding any sensitive areas as well as his face. It's also helpful to use it outside his ears if they are oily from the infection. I'd wait on the bath until his stitches are better and he's feeling really well. |
