Something i have noticed lately..... I have been noticing over the past week or so that my baby has lil bitty sores on her head right between her eyes where the hair starts for her top knot....I then tonihgt noticed she has a bunch of sores in that same area...pretty much on the top of her head where her top knot goes.....I started to notice them when we opened our home to my girlfriends best friend and her two cats....they are not declawed and i see them clawing at her while playing or annoyed for that matter...could it be that the claws of the cats are catching her lil head and causing sores......anybody have cats? have you ever experienced this with your baby.......please some advice heree! |
Its sounds maybe to me that it is the topknot that is causeing it, try leaving her hair loose and see if it clears up. |
Sounds like the top knot to me too. If the hair is long enough, try putting in a loose braid (or if you know how, french braid it). It's really cute and will still keep the hair out of the eyes and mouth. |
i have always kept her hair in a top knot but it wasnt until the cats came that she started gettting the sores.....and my baby ends up taking out the top knot before it is in there long enuf to make any sores........ |
It could be the cats are pulling on the top knot. Jazzie's scalp started to get red when I got the two babies, they were biting and pulling on her hair. |
bows? Maybe the bows or what you have on her little topnot is attracting the cats too much to resist. Maybe you can puppy cut her hair on her head and let the topnot be history for a while til the cats find something else to play with and her little sores heal? |
Check for fleas also...they seem to like the head right above the eyes and can irratate the skin but it could be the topknot is pulling the hair too tight... |

puppy cut Well, I'm the wrong one to ask. I took Maxwell to get his first "puppy cut" and he ended up looking like a schnauzer; but there are a lot of puppy cuts on other members' dog photos that look sooooo sweet. |
I took Max today just to get his bangs cut. I like the rest of his hair a little longer, but he won't keep a topknot in. I found my own hairstyle for him because I don't care for that schnauzer look either. |
I hate to say it, but the cats are probably smacking your baby on the head, and use a bit of claw. The sores are probably scabs. Whenever Mugzy messes with our cat, M'Laynie, (and he can't resist) she smacks him on the head. He doesn't care, though, and will chase after her. :animal36 |
Sophie had a full coat until she was 10, and then cut her into a puppy do. However, when her hair was long, I would braid it at various times so she wasn't irriated by the rubber band. Of course, as soon as I would finish with her top knot, she would tug at it to loosen. Before you cut her hair, make sure the groomer will create the style you want. My groomer has pictures of other pups she cuts, so I could see the outcome. Good luck and hope your pup's head heals rapidly. |
