Soaked in Iowa......
 

Help needed...

Hilton is 6 month old male pure bread yorkie. He will be neutured next month. He is partially house trained but not completely yet.

The following has happened on 2 separate instances, 11 days apart. Very mysterious...

1. Wife and I let him out to go pee, then put him in his kennel (small kennel, just big enough for him to turn around, etc). We then go out to eat.

2. Arrive home 45 minuutes later.

3. Open up the kennel and Hilton's paws, beard, etc are SOAKED. We smell him, it does not smell like pee. The bottom of kennel is wet, but not as much as him. We take a paper towel to it, it's clear, and does not smell like pee.

4. He is shaking until we dry him off. His paws, etc aren't just wet. Its soaked.

This has happened twice and we have no idea what's going on. He doesn't have water in his kennel or food. We leave a chew toy in their sometimes but not always. Could he possibly lick himself this wet? He licks quite a bit (pillows, etc), especially when bored in the morning in bed.

He drinks water (we leave some out at all times) but doesn't drink too much we don't think.

ANYONE HAVE ANY THOUGHTS OR HAS THIS HAPPENED TO YOU??? Any ideas would be appreciated. We're pretty perplexed!

So do you live a bowl of water in his crate? I can't tell from your post if you do or not.

Is he drooling that much? Isn't drooling a sign of extreme stress / that something might be wrong?

Could he be throwing it up? Even though it does not smell like pee, it still may be urine. Millie's pee, never has a strong urine smell to it and it was usually pretty clear, never real yellow, maybe just a hint of yellow, but mostly clear.

I opt for throw up or urine.

There is NO water left in the crate.

Just talked to the vet's associate. She said sometimes they will salivate that much if they're nervous or something startles them.

Very wierd.

It could very well be a type of stress, panting and drooling because he is alone. A person that has one of my dogs has the same thing when she leaves Lucee in a crate alone when she has to leave for a while. Lucee is very spoiled and does have seperation anxiety when she can not go with her person.

He is still young...he might be scared to be left alone in a small crate with just enough room to turn around. He might feel less claustrophobic in an X-pen where he can look around, have a toy, water, a snack, etc.

Lucy used to drool that much when I took her in the car. She starts shaking first, from fear, and then the drooling.
