AKC form ? I know this may sound stupid but I'm going to ask any way...is it best to wait to fill out your AKC papers til their older, maybe 1 - 1 1/2 years old .... on the form they ask coat color & the coat color is going to change later on....what do you think? |
is this for a litter or your own dog? |
It's for my dog...I noticed some yorkies turn very light & some stay dark so I was thinking if I fill it out when he's young it might change to a completely different color when grown... |

normally the breeder of that dog will have on the akc form she/he gave you will have it marked what colors the dog will be. look on the form, it should already be marked |
I didn't realize it was already marked...I hadn't looked at them yet, Thanks On the last forms I had to check the box....that was two years ago. |
I filled out Dukes' papers when he was 6 months old or so. My papers were not marked for color. I marked what he was at that time. I am sure they know that it can change. |

They raise the cost of registering after certain periods of time. I think it's like 6 months, 1 year, then 2 years, after 2 years or more it becomes hard to register because they're like, "Where the hell were you and your dog 2 years ago?!" :p and you have to submit extra paperwork and stuff. I try and find the fees for you. |
Oops I had a few numbers wrong, here's the info for AKC: Before 12 months - Dog registration only: $15 Registration + pedigree: $32 After 12 months - Dog registration only: $50 Registration + pedigree: $67 After 24 months - Dog registration only: $80 Registration + pedigree: $97 After 24 months, you must submit in writing the reasons as to why you did not register your dog earlier. Now this info is like 3 years old, so the cost might've gone up since then. |
I found out if you register them with AKC they send you a coupon for your 1st Vet visit. I waited for a few months before sending it in, so I didn't know. I took mine to the vet within the 1st few days of getting them. |
I never sent for Otis's papers. Money was tight and I wasn't going to show him, and then I just never pursued it. I have the paper from the breeder, but I wonder if there would ever come a time that I would need the "official" papers if I'm not going to show him? |
