How much do your babies eat? Question for you guys: how much do you feed your babies daily? When we got Sadie at 10 weeks, the vet said 2 and a half tablespoons three times day...but she definitely never ate 7.5 tablespoons a day, and still doesn't.. I spoke to a woman who has yorkies the other day, and she said she gives her kids 2 coffee scoops a day (each), and that's enough for them. I'd say Sadie eats about 3.5 to 4 tablespoons a day at almost 8 months. Is this overfeeding or underfeeding? She doesn't seem hungry. She runs around like a maniac all day long....I guess it's just hard for me to grasp that she's tiny, so she'll eat a tiny bit...I just don't want to under/over feed her!! Thanks in advance :) |
Gracie eats about 1/4 C or less of dry mixed with about 1- 2 Tbs. wet twice a day. Lately she only eats half of her breakfast. She is 11 months and appears to have stopped growing. She only weighs 6 lbs. I figure she will eat what she needs and wants. She always has room for a treat though! |
I just leave food available for Nathan and he seems to nibble all day but by 8pm he has cleaned his bowl and i will refill it for the next day!! His breeder recommended just making sure he has plenty of food and water at his disposal all day!!! |
Autumn eats 1/4 cup twice a day. If I feed her 6 cups a day she would eat all of it and then some. She is a regular chow hound!!!:aimeeyork |
My yorkie is free fed and I really don't know how much she eats. Her breeder told me to always leave dry food and water out for her and I do. She is now 5 years old and has always weighed 2.9 or 3 pounds. She did put on a little weight as at her last checkup she was 3.3 pounds. I don't feel her bony spine and ribs like I used to but I don't think she's gotten chunky yet! |
Well when they was both on the dry food, I would put down a cup full, they both shared the same dish. they would eat it here and there and some times finishing it and some times they didnt. |
My vet feels there should be food and fresh water down at all times so....Seth and Sasha are free fed and doing great. |
I free feed my girls and they're always at their dish. They are seriously little pigs, LOL :D I fill up their bowl every day and they also get treats. :D |
I was putting a full bowl of food out for Sukoshi twice a day, and I'd let her eat as much as she wanted for an hour or so at each feeding. BUT...I took her to the vet on Friday, and he says she's overweight (hard to believe at only 3 pounds, 1 ounce). So...now I'm feeding her twice a day still, but I'm only giving her 1/8 cup per feeding...which seems like NOTHING at all! She's definitely eating it all gone, and the vet said to keep an eye on her weight, and if she doesn't drop some ounces, then I need to reduce it a little more! I can't imagine! But...she's so small, he's concerned with her carrying around any more weight than she needs to. So...how much to feed your baby is certainly a difficult question. A good rule of thumb that my vet said when we first got Sukoshi is that we should always be able to slightly feel her ribs. It's so easy for them to get a little chubby and those ribs disappear! |
Remy is 5 months old and 4lbs , gets 2 tbs of kibble twice a day , thats about 1/2 cup total per day . But Tia my shih tzu/ maltese 4 1/2 years and 7 1/2 lbs, gets 1/4 cup a day divided into two meals. So you can see that each dog has a different metabolism. Remy at half the size and weight of Tia, my couch potatoe, eats twice as much food! And I thought the yorkie would be the cheap one to feed! Eileen |
They eat 1/4 cup of dry kibble and plenty of healthy treats. They get canned Evanger's food every 4 or 5 days as a treat for something different to eat other then dry kibble all the time. I would give them more Evanger's, but they get way to much soft stool issues from it so we use it as a nice treat once in awhile here. |
bella eats about 1/2 cup a day...........plus a little yogurt and strawberries for lunch |
It all depends on how big your yorkie is and what type of food you feed. My two eat 1/2 cup (Canidae) each. |
