Bed problems As most of you know, Penny has been doing really well with Riley. I'd worried about jealousy, but they are great together and Penny even looks out for her. Our only issue comes in the mornings. Penny sleeps with us, but Riley spends the night in her crate as she is only 7 mos. old. When I get Riley up, she is a bundle of energy and runs around the bed wanting to see Penny. Penny, however, will stand on the edge of the bed and get upset. She'll even jump down and growl a bit as if guarding "her" bed. And when I put Riley on the bed to say good morning to my husband, Penny gets mad and will often lunge and give a warning snarl. Now, this only happens in the mornings. At night, we all cuddle in bed together for about 30 minutes, then Riley goes to her crate, we turn off the TV, and all go to sleep. Penny seems to have no problems with all of us cuddling together. Now if Penny happens to get up first, she will actually wait at Riley's crate, anxious for her to come out and play. So, obviously the issue is the bed and Penny thinking it's her territory. How can we remedy this situation? I've thought about making Penny spend a few nights in her crate... but would this help? Does anyone have any suggestions? |
IF it were me...I'd sit on the bed and play with them a little everyday and get her used to having a buddy sleep there....Once she knows it's no big deal to share maybe she'll come around ? |
