We BOTH had the itchy's! I took Sam with me Sat to visit my MIL for mothers day. She is currently sitting a neighbors dog and I am not blaming the other dog but Sam and I both came back home itching like crazy. I checked Sam and cant find any fleas but I do see bite marks. I wonder if we have chiggers! Here is the funny part, I showered with Adams Flea, Tick and Mite shampoo! I also bathed all three dogs with it to and it helped a lot. After I was done I asked by hubby if he needed a flea bath too and he gave me a funny look! Anyone else ever bath with dog shampoo? My hair felt squeeky clean afterwards! |
:lol tears hahaha that is soo funny!!! i bet your hubby was so confused...hehe anyway, i have never heard of chiggers???? at least everyone is feeling better now! |
Sorry but ooohh, showering in flea shampoo, I absoulty hate the smell of the stuff, i wont even bathe my babies in it. No wonder your hubby looked at you funny. lol I do hope you feel better though, i hate the lil critters. A friend of ours was minding our girls before, when we came back from a short break the whole family were itching, it was awful. I had to spray all the beds an soft furnising. We wont be asking him again though. LOL |
We just finished watching my friend's long hair dachshund for a few days and now the dogs are all itching! Hopefully we can nip it in the bud! |
I can't say I've ever heard of anyone using their dog's flea shampoo before! HILARIOUS! I HATED chiggers when I lived in MO, but since I moved to CA, it's not a problem because I don't think they have them here. Maybe it's a midwest thing?! Then again, they don't have lightening bugs here either, and I miss those! |
I very very sensitive to chiggers and they are normally in tall grassy areas. My mother in law lives across the street from an unoccupied lot that was recently mowed, I bet those little chiggers found thier way to her yard. You cant actually see a chigger but they do leave bite marks and make you itch like crazy. I still have an occassional itch, I will probably end up having to go to the doctor to get a shot like I had to another time. Maybe I should go to the vet instead or take some Frontline, hahaha! |
I've always heard that whereas a mosquito bites you and flies away, a chigger actually crawls into your skin (sounds gross) to feed off you, which is what causes the itching...they're still in there! If you put some clear finger nail polish on the chigger bite, that is supposed to suffocate them and stop the itching. It's worked for me before. It's worth a try anyway...anything to avoid a shot! |
