I Need Advice We are getting our first Yorkie puppy in about a month. We visited the breeder last night and narrowed our choices down to three; one is the runt of the litter, the other is very inquisitive and the third is fiestly. We are a retired couple and so we don't have a high energy household. The runt is adorable and seems like she has a good personality-but not as active as the others; my question, has anyone had any health problems related to the runt of the litter? Is there anything we should be aware of? We need to make our decision within the week. Thanks for your help. |
I wish I could help. I will be interested in the answers as well. |
Hi And Welcome to YT :wavey: How old are the puppies now? As they get older you maybeable to their personalities better. the quite one may become the very active one. And you say you have a calm home bringing a pup into your home may get you more active if that is what you are wanting :) Good luck and keep us updated and Pictures are always Great :) |
I just recently had a little pup die on me. She was very tiny which many are... but I believe she suffered from low blood sugar and didn't adjust well to moving into a new home. Low blood sugar is very common with Yorkies. I do think there is a risk getting the runt but it depends on how runty she is. The bigger the healthier sometimes. I also did research and learned that it can be best to pick the most outgoing of the bunch. Lexi was kind of outgoing but looking back she lacked a spark in her eye that I've seen in others. Yorkies as I'm sure you may know can be very high maintenance! I was not aware until Lexi, but now I know what to look for. Go with your heart if there is a lot of doubt than I would maybe choose a bigger pup. Blessings to you and your new baby, Heather |
