Wet Face!! HI everyone- Just wondering if anyone could tell me if it is normal for puppies to have a "wet face"?? Dolce's face always looks like she has been crying or dunking her face in a bowl of water. Is this the norm? Plus the hair on her nose does not seem to be growing...she is going to be 16 weeks this Friday. I have tried washing her face with a cotton ball, but it doesnt seem to do anything. Am I doing something wrong or is there something wrong with Dolce?? Any and all help would be greatly appreciated!! |
I'm not sure about the hair on the nose growing, but sometimes their face does look a bit wet when they are younger. Do you clean the eye gunk off of the area around Dolce's eyes? That part is pretty much always wet, but if you clean it a few times a day, it looks a bit better. |
Thanks fasteddie...dumb question...I only use a wet cotton ball to clean her face...is there any special way to do this?? Im not sure if just using a wet cotton ball is doing any help. I am so new to this!!! :) I really appreciate all your replies...you have been a tremendous help as have ALL of the people on this site!!! |
Well, thank you for the compliments. I try, but I am far from knowing everything there is to know about Yorkies. I usually use a wet cloth (like a face cloth) and just clean the areas around his eyes, and clean around the mouth area too. |
Well I think you know everything!!! :D Thanks for the advice....I am taking a wash cloth to her face when i get home tonight!! |
I would use a face cloth too but not sure if her face should be that wet? You may possibly ask your vet to check her eye ducts? nothing serious but I rarely wipe Gypsy Rose and Gizie's face? May be a minor problem that could be put right or maybe it is normal for her? |
Yeah I was wondering the same thing Gypsy Rose...I thought her face shouldnt be that wet either. I think the next time i go to the vet, which is in about a week, I will ask him about it. He has never mentioned anything to me in the last 2 visits, but maybe he hasnt noticed. Mothers notice EVERYTHING! :) In the meantime, I will wipe her face with the wet cloth and see what happens. Thanks you guys!!! |
Hah, thanks Dolce's Mom! Is her face wet around the nose? Or just from the eye ducts? Or around the mouth? If you can take a picture of her wet face, perhaps some of the other experts here can analyze it for ya. |
Fasteddie-That sounds like an excellent idea...I'll take the pic and then maybe you can help me get it on this site...because i know i will have trouble posting it. :p I definitely need the advice of all the experts on here!!! Going home and taking the pic!! :) |
Let us know what the vet says. It is always helpful to hear in case we encounter this problem. I wipe my dogs eyes out with water and cottom ball every morning and that seems to do it. Every once in a while I might have to do it again in the evening, but not too often. Pat |
No problem, just message me or post if you need anything! :) |
1 Attachment(s) Hey everyone...here is a pic of Dolce from last weekend...I hope i do it right....i am so bad at this... :p If it doesnt come out, then fasteddie I need your help!! Thanks |
Ok it kinda worked....so you guys see what I am talking about?? She looks like an alley dog...lol My poor thing!! |
Oh Gosh! She looks just like Snoodles did at that age. What a darling picture. Be sure and let us know what the vet said about the wet face! Pat |
Ah!! She's gorgeous!! Hope the vet can sort out the problem - doubt very much if it is serious - hope it can be sorted out very quickly! She's a darling!! |
Thank mybirdy and Gypsy Rose....I was wondering if anyone else's puppies looked like she does at this age...glad to know I ma not alone. I will definitely let all of you know what the vet says. Thanks everyone for your help and all your kind words about Dolce!!! You're all so sweet!!! |
Dolce's Mom, I have terrible eyesight so I couldn't tell what parts of her little face are wet! When Toto was about that age her little eye area stayed wet, kinda like tearing all the time ... she just seemed to outgrow it ... she very, very seldom gets anything on her fur from her eyes now. When she was teething ... boy that was a mess ... she drooled like a maddog!! That went on until she had finished teething! I bought some "eye cleansing" clothes at PetSmart. They come in one of those little "pop up" thingy's like baby wipes. I would just kinda clean under her eyes and wipe her little face. The picture of little Dolce is a sweetheart!! Please post more!! ;) |
Awww bettyeanne, you're so sweet!! You have no idea how relieved I am to hear that your baby had the same thing happen to her. I thought Dolce was the only one after looking at all the pics of the sweethearts on here with DRY faces....:) Ok, so I am going to have to go to the store and get those wipes. They sound like a great idea. Everyone here has been so helpful in their ideas. I am trying them all!!! I will post more pics very soon I promise!!! |
Thanks! Another thing I remembered about the teething ... we got some of those little finger toothbrushes for babies gums and would just sit and rub her little gums with it ... it seemed to help! I also kept absorbent things handy for wiping drool! ;) I can't imagine anything else that would cause her little face to be so wet! Keep us updated ... can't wait to see more pics! |
I like the tip about the finger toothbrush, thanks! Little Hercules is all about the biting right now. His face gets wet under his eyes, that's probably from his eyes tearing up though. I'll have to try those wipe cloths you were talking about too. |
I think I will have to go and get those things for her little gums. She must be teething something awful!! I just hope she will sit long enough for me to use them on her. We will see what happens. Thanks again and I will post more pics hopefully this week!!! :) |
