Please help Royce is Itching like crazy Royce started scratching himself about 2 weeks ago and then he irritated his skin and small red bumps appeared . I Took himto the vet last Tuesday and he gave him Cephalexin for 14 days and he was ok . Today he started itching and scratching like crazy I gave him a bath with minksheen hoping that it will relive the itching but it didnt stop. He keeps on jumping from one place the another and scratches non stop ...what could it be ? What can do ? I tried to reach his vet but he is gone for the day  |
Is he on flea medication? Have you switched foods recently? Cali has been scratching constantly for nearly a year and we still can't find out why after all the tests meds etc. The vet still thinks it is a food allergy and we are trying to pinpoint the food that is causing it. I know how miserable it is for them and you when they scratch non stop. I just put Cali on steroids Saturday as a last resort and she hasn't scratched at all today which is a miracle but she is peeing all the time and even peed in her sleep. Good luck I hope you can find out what is causing it. |
It might be allergies. Mika gets itchy around spring every year, and the vet tels us it's only allergies |

He is on flea medication "revolution" I started the medication on May 7th and the vet last week checked him for fleas anddoesnt have that, and I didnt change his food as he is on a homemade diet . The vet told me if the itching does not stop he will give him allergiesmedication like benadryl and steroids are the last solution because of his high liver enzimes . |
Give that baby some benedryl, good luck. |
My zig. had fleas on Revolution for many summers I treated her for allergys finally changed to frontline and wa la no more scratching. |
My little guy was also scratching a lot and we couldn't find any fleas. Try mixing some eucalytus oil with his shampoo, it is a natural flea deterrent. Mix some of the oil with water and spray his basket and all the things he comes into contact with. This really helped with mine. Give it a try. |

Buddy has been itching like crazy for about three weeks. The vet told me to put him on Benadryl, also. 1/2 teaspoon twice a day. I did that and it seemed to help a bit, but he seemed so sleepy all the time. Then, last Saturday he woke up vomiting and there was blood specks in it. Then it went on to diarhhea and I had a very sick boy for a couple of days. The vet said to quit giving him the benadryl as it was upsetting him tummy. I am sure it is just allergies and I am trying to figure out what is triggering it. I think it is either the pollen from the pine trees, which is bad this year, or Frontline. I am leaning toward the Frontline, as this all started shortly after I put it on him and gets worse with every dose. We have an appointment with the vet later this week and I will be questioning him about this. |
