Ciera's color 3 Attachment(s) I just read a previous thread about the coloring of the lighter yorkies being a flaw and I am confused  Can someone tell me by looking at Ciera if she is not standard coloring or if she is like she is supposed to be? Also look at the pic in my avatar with the bow. What color would you consider her? Also when can you tell the true colors that the puppy will be as an adult? How old are they? Sorry so many questions. |
I don't have an answer for your question. But i had to say that Ciera is a cutie pie and i love her color:) |

She looks silver to me. The standard is blue. She is lighter than the standard, but she is still beautiful. Sometimes they stay dark black, sometimes they change to blue or silver, it can happen anytime. I have seen some stay dark until they are about 3 or 4 and then turn silver. It just depends on the dog's individual genetics. |
Unless you were planning to show her in a AKC event or to breed her it shouldn't matter what color she is. But I totally understand where you are coming from. When I first got Jazzie, I was so wrapped up in her size and kept on waiting for her coat to change but she stayed black as coal and grew to be 10 pounds. Now I don't care and I love her dark coat! When we started to look for another puppy, I wanted one that had the most potential to stay dark like Jazzie. I don't plan on showing or breeding, I just love them for loving me! Ciera has a beautiful coat! She reminds me of a silver cloud. She is so cute! |
I don't think the color really matters if she is just a pet. She's beautiful by the way. Mika was black and tan up until 1 or 2 years ago, now shes getting lighter and lighter, but I think it may be old age(she's 8) |
Thanks everyone! Of course, I think she is beautiful but I may be a little biased ;) I had just seen others that looked alot like her and thought that was part of the "norm" and then I read that thread that was saying it was somewhat of a flaw and I just wondered if it was bad genetics or something. She is just a pet and I don't plan on breeding or showing her, but was just curious. |
She's just beautiful.....Brandi's mom is light like Ciera....Brandi is a year old and has remained dark so far....but I can see all the light hair underneath..... |
It's not standard in the sense that it's not a coat color that the AKC recognizes. (they recognize blue/tan, blue/gold, black/gold, black/tan, and your dog is more of a silver/gold) So you wouldn't be able to show her, but there's nothing wrong with her! I happen to find that coat color very beautiful. |
She is totally cute!! ALthough color was not really a major point when I started looking for my girl, I wanted one that would be lighter in color. I had to pay more attention to how much she costed though, but I got extremely lucky. I ended up "rescuing" my girl, and she is light in color. I believe she will stay that way, but her hair is rather short.... I don't think it's going to get much longer :( (she's mixed with chi). I love her anyway! Ciera is very lovely... I can't imagine wanting her any other way :D |
She is very pretty. Both of mine are silver also. Its a really common color to not be in the standard |
My Bella gets her coloring from her mom I think (she was a Pom). I hope her hair gets longer for the yorkie in her. I think her coloring is pretty. Is there such thing as an ugly yorkie? Naw ;) |
Standard or no, Ciera is very lovely. I like her lighter color. |
She is a little beauty . She looks like the Yorkie of my friend . |
Who cares what color she is, she is beautiful!!!:aimeeyork |
