Is s matting normal? I am having the hardest time keeping meeka from gettng matted. She is a puppy and tends to get matted on her hind legs/butt area really easily and I cant get it all out! Help... |
:) lol I truly understand..I ended up having to shave my baby because although i was brushing him I wasn't getting it all the way...thus smooth on top, matted on bottom and his breeder shaved him with my permission when I brought him to visit!!! Now his adult coat is coming in pretty nice and I make sure we brush and comb at least twice a day!! Hope you can get her unmatted without shaving her!!! good luck!!! |
Maddie's hair used to matt just like that when she was 9 months and under. We pretty much kept her shaved short. But then she started getting better as she got in her adult coat. She'll never be able to have a long coat because I don't want to have to spend hours brushing her, but she definately doesn't matt as bad as before. Maybe it will get better for Meeka as she gets older too. |
Well I am glad that I am not the one! I really dont want to shave her but I hate the matting!! And I dont want to hurt her trying to get them out.... I guess I will keep trying. |
my Troy matts up too. i was wondering how often to brush her. i guess a long coat is out now cause i don't want to hurt her. Walker's coat is silky already and hes younger. but it grows slow. |
Those puppy cotton coats are difficult to keep the matts out, but it can be done. I used a slicker brush for the matts and a good spray on conditioner. A lot of the conditioners can be diluted way down and sprayed on. It will tell you on the directions if it does. |
