What do you think of pet sitting service??? Pet sitting service?? I am thinking of opening a new business. Pet sitting in your home. While your at work or on vacation. I have been thinking of this for a long time but never acted on it. How much do you think I should charge. What do you think I need to start. I know Insurance and clients Advertising and such I really want to change Jobs one that I wont need daycare for my daughter. Any advise is helpful. Also I will need a cute catchy Name :) Thank you. |
I know someone that does this. She charges $40 a day. She stays at your house, brings out the garbage, brings in the mail. waters plants, keeps your house looking as if someone is home. Good luck, let us know what happens! |

I have no idea what to charge, but I have a couple name suggestions. "Critter Sitter" or "Sit and Stay". |
I have a friend who hires a pet sitter to stay with her dogs overnight if she's out of town (because her roommate works nights and she doesn't want the dogs by themselves), and the lady she uses charges $50/night. My friend has 4 dogs, 3 cats, and 2 birds though, so I don't know if you could charge that much for just 1 or 2 animals. Good luck! |

Here is a website you can check out- www.southernpetsitters.com The owner is fantastic and does enough business to have several pet sitters. Shes got her prices listed on the site. Depending on where you live, you may even be able to charge more. If you have a Small Business Development Center in your area they are always willing to help start out a business and can give you plenty of advice! I have never left my older dog overnight except for her spay and once I left her with my mom when I was moving and the new pup hasn't been left at all, so we havent' used the service much, but I did take my girl to the beach one time and had the service come and walk, feed, etc the foster puppy I had at the time. It was great and well worth the $12 for each visit. They even worked on her commands while we were gone so she wouldn' forget them. A big thing the do is write cute little notes and leave them at the end of each visit so when i got back I could she what marley did and how much she enjoyed the pet sitter! |

Layla goes to a babysitter! when looking for one i wanted somewhere that i could bring her for the day because we live outside of the city and i knew no one would come to my house for the day. She charges 15 dollars a day (a steal i know!) and layla goes there about 4 times a month for the day. I bring my own food and she just hangs out at their house as if she is a part of the family. If i were to keep her overnight there i would just need to bring my crate for her. They go for walks (her babysitter has a lab, a labradoodle and a lab granddaughter :p ) and layla has a blast.. comes home VERY tired!! maybe this is somethign you could offer to smaller breeds... |
That would be cool if you could get it going!! It would be a great change of pace. How far do you think you will travel to do it??? MN, maybe?:D Personally, I am paranoid - so I wouldn't hire someone to be alone in my house or with my babies - that I didn't know or trust. Like I said, I'm just paranoid of things happening. I'm not sure what I'll do if I have to go somewhere and can't take the gang along.... I probably should start thinking of that before I need it! I really hope you can make it happen. Wouldn't it be nice to have a job that you enjoy doing????:) |
Doggy Day Care.... Friends of ours take their 2 llaso's to a doggy day care when they want a free day to go shopping, golfing or whatever.....they charge $25 per day per dog....and I have seriously considered using this service myself....seems if you have the space and patience....it would be a wonderful service.....,:aimeeyork |
I have considered using a pet service. But I have issues too. I worry about the reliability of the person, whether the person will steal from me, or use stuff I don't want them using. Leave the house a mess, know how to operate the TV, really pay attention to Millie, ect. I just have problems with having a complete stranger in my house (and they would be until you got to know them)without me being there, let alone leaving Millie in their care. I don't know what assurances someone would give me that could take me over my "issues" hump and allow me to begin using such a service. Because if the price is right, I surely would like the option of such a service, but won't go there because of my "issues". I only say this, so you understand that there are people like me out there and you may have to address this type of person and how to reach them (mentally) so that you can do business with them. |
