Maggie is one year old and still has those darned baby teeth... I had Maggie Moo neutered at 6 months, and the vet said her baby teeth weren't big enough to pull yet. I took her for a checkup in January, he said don't worry they will come out. Well, she's now a year old, and she still has baby teeth plus permanent teeth. I'm starting to freak out, will the baby teeth come out on their own like he said? She has SO many teeth in her little mouth. Nothing seems to be loose yet, but she was late getting her teeth. And, I don't know which are baby, which are permanent, are baby teeth in front or in back of the permanent teeth. Thanks for the help. |
They don't always come out on their own. Playing tug of war might help loosen them up. I think Gus' baby teeth were on the inside but I'm not completely sure I'm remembering right. His baby teeth were like needles compared to his adult teeth though so that's how I could tell which was which. |
Get 'em pulled Emmy retained two of her baby teeth and we had to have them pulled. We use two different vets depending where we are at the time. They both said they had to come out! Dropped her off at 8:00 one morning and picked her up after lunch. She did great--no problems! |
I have the same situation with Rebel. He's nearly 9 mos old and looks like he has shark teeth! I'm calling the vet today because he has 2 top right canines, but they are side by side rather than one in front of the other. It looks weird and he seems to be favoring the left side of his mouth when he eats. |
My girlfriend had the same situation w/her yorkie, the vet kept telling her that they would come out. They never did and they actually started to rot and her yorkie got an infection in his gums. I would not take the chance have them removed.:animal36 |
teeth i had to smile at the tug of war reply, but actually it isn't funny. I have two yorkies and Munchie is 10 now, they play tug-of-war constantly and some of Munchie's teeth have fallen out. The wrong dog is losing teeth! |

Adie loves to play tug of war and all but one of her baby teeth came out without me ever finding any. That is except 1. We had the vet remove it when she was neutered at 8 months. The vet scolded me for not bringing her in sooner for her spay and I've read many posts from others that have had their puppies baby teeth pulled at the same time as the spay. It is a good time to microchip too. I don't think your vet is giving you good advice. Could you go to another one. At least get a second opinion? Just a though. Good luck |
a mouth full of teeth My 6 month Hanna has the same problem. Took her to the vet and he said she is behind in loosing the baby teeth. Told me to come back in 6 weeks to see if she lost any baby teeth. She has since only lost 2 and she has so many teeth in her little mouth its unbelievable. I am hoping they come out soon, so she doesn't have to go thru surgery. |
I had to get 2 baby teeth pulled on Jewls. It was really no big deal. |
