Don't worry yourself too much. These little guys are so sensitive. His reaction may have little or nothing to do with whatever the underlying problem is. Just the stress of the whole experience can cause their stomachs to get upset and it could be delayed reaction to anesthesia. Our first Yorkie -- much like me-- often had bad reactions after being knocked out. Thoughts and prayers continue in your direction. |
I hope that BooBoo will soon be home with you! |
Thanks everyone. I have just had a call from the vet and the results from the biopsy came back and he has MVD. Also they said I don't need to worry about the fluid that was in his stomach as it went down, and they said it was from the anesthesia. So I am just wonering what now? They said that I can pick him up tomorrow about lunch time but is there anything I should do and what I shouldn't when I pick him up. Because I have never had dogs with surgeries before I am very worried for when he comes home. I also don't know how to keep my two yorkies separate for a while while his surgery is healing. Any advise? PS: Thanks everyone so much. I don't know what I would have done without you. |
First of all I am sooooo happy to hear that Boo-Boo is doing better!!:) I have had this little guy on my mind since I first read your first post! When Louie was "fixed" They gave him some pain meds that kept him quiet for a day or two....but he is mellow anyways.....with Bella it was quite differant as she is a very active little girl.....If they want you to keep him really still and quiet see if they will give you something safe for you to give him to help with that....and I dont really have any other great suggestions for you hun sorry........but good luck and Please keep us posted! Give Boo-Boo plenty of hugs and kisses from me , Louie, and Bella please. :getwellso  :love-hug3 :goodluck: :bleh: :kiss3: :love-hug1 :hug60: :kiss4: |

Thanks...I really appreciate all of your prayers. It does give me comfort and support to endure everything. I just feel so sorry for my poor baby as he's been through so much already and now I just want him to be ok. If I could I would take away all his ilness and put it upon myself. But I can't and all I can do is pray that he'll have a healthy life. |
I'm praying for your baby still!! Just try to keep him calm when he comes home. The only thing I can recommend is to be very careful with pain meds...Miko had a very bad reaction to RIMADYL. It can cause liver failure and when they already have liver problems...well, let's just say it's very scary. |
The only advice I have as to how to keep him calm is to keep Boo-Boo in a separate room from all your other furbabies. Sukoshi was ready to run and play with the cats the day after her spay surgery, and we had to keep her separated from them in order to keep her from pulling her stitches out. I'm glad Boo-Boo is getting to come home tomorrow :xfingers: , and I'll keep you guys in my prayers. Oh, and BTW, I know I've seen others mention on here that their furbabies have MVP, so I'm sure you'll be able to get plenty of info regarding that down the road as well. I think it's completely manageable. Good luck! |
4 Attachment(s) Update available here http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=80337 But if this link doesn't work, this is the update: ''Ok, I have finally got my baby back home today and I can't tell you how much better I feel. I have been imagining this day for a couple of days now, and is a lot better than I had imagined it would be. I have took a few pictures of my little fighter and will post them here. One of the pictures is of the stitches. Can anyone tell me how does it look? Does it look ok or not? Also the vet gave me the medicines for Boo-Boo Ampicillin 50mg-one tablet three times a day Lactulose-1 ml three times a day or depending on his stool Hepatic support diet. Sutures will be removed in 7 days and in 4 weeks they want to take some more blood samples. PS: One of the pics is Boo-Boo and his sister Pheoebe. But Boo-Boo is not even half as her. Will he grow some more now? '' Attachment 119859 Attachment 119860 Attachment 119861 Attachment 119862 |
Wow, his incision looks really good. And it's pretty small!! When Miko had his surgery it was a lot longer than that. I'm so happy that Booboo is home with you now and he's doing so well. Tell him that we're praying for a full and speedy recovery. Hugs from the furbabies!! |
