Just who is in command here anyway! I just think it is amusing how our Yorkies are training us! We do things to please our dogs just so we get the pleasure of giving them a treat. We try to figure out what is the best way to handle our dogs to get them to the things we want them to do. They are the ones getting waited on hand and paw. Enjoying the bathing and brushing and getting compliments every other word we speak. They make sure we get our exercise every day by walking us. I have never came across anyone who wanted to pat my face and tell me how pretty I was after a bath and hair cut. Mel Gibson would sleep with my dog before he would me! ETC. ETC. ETC... |
That is too funny, but TRUE ! :D |
No question about it they are :p I wouldn't have it any other way, maybe sometimes..................Cindy |
Heheh, their cute factor just overcomes anything bad they will ever do! :) The sad thing for us is they know they can get us to do anything for em! Well, not sad, but just a fact of a Yorkie owner's life, eh? |
OK guys!!! Somebody tell me the truth!?! Is the Toto the "boss"??? She insists she is and I believed her!! ;) |
Well, as the saying goes... if you have to ask... :p |
Not only is BoBo the boss he will speak and tell me he is. lol :D |

Whos the Boss This is such a funny topic for us this week. I just got back from vacation and left our Yorkie Sophie with my sister. Our Sophie has her regular routine and I typed it up for my sister Janet. She just sort of shrugged it off and I told her that this had to be stuck with. When my husband and I returned Saturday my sister was exhausted and just kept complaining about how bossy our dog is. Sophie gets medicine twice a day with just the smallest piece of polish ham. She will bug you till your dead if you dont give it to her right on time. Our Sophie is adored in our home and will accept nothing less. I hate leavig her behind. She cried all night the first night. I am getting worse than she is every year. She is thirteen. Barbara |
Thats funny, will your sister take her again? :) We can relate to that "bugging you" situaton when our oldest, now almost 7yrs old, will beg like that in the evening for a treat until we give in. Its amazing how they get " set in their ways " as they get older too. ;) Poor Sophie, crying , she missed you so much ! |
oh my guish! I don't know how Buckeye would react to be being gone for that length of time. Or how I would react for that matter. I can't leave these babies with any one who would treat them like dogs. I left Buckeye with my daughter one time for 2 hours. I called her 4 times from my cell. "She said mother he is a dog. he will be fine. " WELL I AM NOT GOING TO LEAVE HIM WITH HER ANY MORE! |
Barbara, welcome to YorkieTalk! Sophie sounds like our Toto! She has her routine and doesn't like it to change! We very seldom, ever leave Toto unless we grocery shop or absolutely have to go where we are certain that we can't take her in my bag!! God forbid, we ever have to be gone overnight! :) When we first brought her home, everyone close to us would always say, "If you ever need anyone to keep her, please bring her to me"! NOW ... she is soooo spoiled and we are soooo over-protective, they say, "I wouldn't be responsible for Toto for ANYTHING"! :p The only person who volunteers to keep her is our vet!! And she always reassures us that Yorkie babies stay with her at night!! ;) Looking forward to hearing more about Sophie and seeing pics!! :) |
That is so true! Mine is only 10 months old and every morning after I eat, she stands by the sink and whines and jumps on my leg until I wash out her eyes, brush her teeth, and coomb her hair. Just wish I could keep a bow in her hair! |
They are so human It is strange how I think of our Sophie a a little child who cant speak. She is so human to me. Since I have quit work and am staying home now I have had more time to spend with her and we have become inseparable. I have so many health issues with her and the most important one is that when we got her I was afraid to have her neutered because I read in Ann Landers column of a woman who's Yorkie died when she had it neutered. Well, I got scared and never had this done. Now Sophie is getting infections around her period and they can be really bad. I thought she would die last time. I am always watching her now and that is why it is dificult for me to leave her with anyone. The Vet is hesitant to neuter her now. She is 13. I guess it's really important to have this done. I never mated her and really never wanted to. I can see how everyone here is so attached to thier babies. Believe me, I understand. Thinking Thin |
Well, talk about being spoiled !!! We bought a 30 ft. motorhome so they could come with us anywhere. :p That solved our problem of ever having to leave them with someone overnight and we never had to do that. They both were spayed within their first year. We heard pros and cons about having that done, and we're glad we followed thru. We were very nervous about it each time, hearing those stories about Yorkies not taking to anethesia very well, but if you have a reputable vet they know about that and are cautious. I believe its the type of anesthesia that is used and the amount that affects them, but I was reassured it would go smooth and we were lucky. We STILL WORRIED !! |
