New street thug Yorkie tries to hump our good mannered Yorkie First, I'm not even sure if this guy is a pure bred Yorkie. He's flop eared , and he sheds. He's new to us, however, and before us he was abused. Unlike our super pure bred Yorkie, Kennaan, this new guy has very long legs and stands very high from the ground. We were told he's four months old, but he's trying to hump Kennaan and he's marking everywhere. He's not stronger than our Yorkie but he's reckless, and with his height he has an advantage over Kennaan. Of course, Kennaan will not allow the new guy to hump him, so then they would compete to see who could hump the other. No one wins. There isn't much aggression, but I'm not sure what's the right course of action. Should I let them or what? Thanks a lot, |
Sounds like they are both trying to show dominance. Do you have a picture to post? I'd love to see it. |

and i too would love to see pictures.! |
My 3 month old maltese humps my 7 month old yorkie. When I see it I make him stop, but he keeps trying. Hannah got fixed yesterday so I guess it wont matter, and he will get fixed in a few months. |
It does sound like a dominance issue, are either of them nuetered? If not, or if only one of them is, if you nueter the other one you may find that the aggression is not there anymore or at the very least has been toned down a great deal. My boy is nuetered and never humps or marks anything. I hope this helps you out! |
3 Attachment(s) What's the difference between playing and an aggressive dogfight? Yesterday (which is a few hours ago) the two dogs were "playing" until they almost fainted from exhaustion. Now, I wouldn't let them "play" or try to hump each other, despite the fact that none of them cried even once. It's definitely to show who's boss. I have some pictures of the "new guy" for you to judge if he's a pure bred Yorkie, but please excuse the unprettiness of the pictures, they were taken in a hurry. |
