Behavior genetics? Or Taught from parents? My friend has a female yorkie, shes a sweetheart and she bred her once and she had a litter of 2 puppies. Ok the thing about this yorkie, and that when she get excited she spins uncontrollably, around and around and around. and then she'll stop, stand on her hind legs, hop around and them be completely normal, its pretty cute. anyways, the 2 puppies where given to 2 different homes, one of them is my neighbor. i went to go visit and the puppy was about 12 weeks, and when i walked in she saw me.. and starting spinning and hopping the same way her mom does. I called the owner of the other puppy and learned that he does the same thing. Ok, so its more likely that the mom just taught her puppies this, but isnt is possible that she couldve passed on the hoppy dancy gene? Lol sorry if this sounds really dumb, but im curious. |
Your question don't sound dumb . Puppies often imitate the adult behaviors . |
I'm sure they learned it from their mom. They have to start learning from her as early as possible in order to survive. (That is if they were in the wild.) My dogs are: Ivan the gsd who is 6 Cassie the shih tzu who is 8 and Adie my yorkie who is 1. Cassie taught Ivan to be quiet but to bark at stangers. (That is the only time any of them bark unless playing.) Ivan also learned to pick up a stuffed toy and give it to one of us if we get up in the middle of the night and frequently when we come home. (Beats me why) Cassie started that. It will be interesting to see if Adie starts doing it too. Ivan taught Cassie to fetch and she in turn taught Adie. Every dog I have ever had has learned to walk on a leash by watching the older dog. I think they learn it during their "hero worship" phase. Just my input. Lou |
I believe that the parents pass down certain traits to their babies, just like with humans. Jake is like his dad, very sweet and cuddly and affectionate. Both have very good dispositions and personalities. Jake's mom cuddles on HER terms.:) There are alot of things that he does that his parents do too. |
