Help I scared poor Taffy Ok I made my problem worse correcting the little heathen (CJ) when he is attacking Taffy. I tell him NO and take him away from Taffy. Well now Taffy thinks she is the one in trouble. And she won't let the baby around her at all and then she looks at me with those sad eyes. How can I correct C.J. and not upset and scare Taffy off?????????? I didn't have this problem with Baby when I brought Taffy home. I am just sick about upsetting Taffy. CJ just looks at me and off he goes to get into more trouble. I have only had CJ 2 days and I am afraid I am ruining Taffy and CJ lives. :confused: I'm a bad confused mommy. Any ideas???? help someone , anyone. I know my husband is thinking (I told her she didn't need another dog). I wanted everything to be perfect it perfect alright I have a little monst and scaring my angel away. What am I doing wrong??? I am having a meltdown here |

Then make sure you tell Taffy what a good baby she is and give her some snuggles. I know you're frustrated, but you just have to be consistent and firm. Yes-- do what the pack leader would do-- get between them and confront CJ--get him to eye level and seperate him somewhere else. By turning your back on him and giving all the attn to Taffy--he'll get the msg. Try to be swift with it. In fact set aside some time to just address the issue. Keep him seperate from the others and when you can be there watching bring them together. Sounds like work--it is-- but you can turn this around!:thumbup: |

Thank you for answering my sinking ship message. I will do what you all suggested. I let Taffy tell him this morning to stay out of her food dish. She growled at him (I was so proud of her) he backed off and went back to his own food. ;-) I played ball with just Taffy this morning he tried to growl and intersead in the game he kept growling and snapping at her so I told him No and rolled him over and growled at him. Taffy took for the hills again and he just looked at me. I didn't let go until he stopped sqruiming. Thanks for the help during my melt down. How cute! It's not that I'm not sympathetic, but I can just picture how cute they are. You'll get it done. |
If at all possible let the the dogs sort it out themselves. Adie had to learn not to pick on Cassie and Cassie is the one who taught her that. Fortunately neither one has ever bitten the other in anger but they have had loud disagreements and Cassie has had to hold Adie to the floor a couple of times. Adie ALWAYS starts it. I will separate them if I have to and give Cassie attention to let her know it is alright. She has never done anything inappropriate for the situation. I've mentioned it before but I''ll say it again.... Cassie has put herself in charge and is quite the little mother to our Adie and I think that it might have turned out that way because I let them form their own bond and let them be dogs. Cassie mothers Ivan too! All three dogs truly love each other but just like human siblings they will squabble from time to time. Good luck. |
