Yorkie Garbage Disposal!!!!????? okay is it just me???Do i have the only Yorkie that everytime I turn around he has something in his mouth other than his own food!?? Paper, wood pcs, leaves..aaahhhh i can go on!! Then we have to fight about getting it out of his mouth...lol...As soon as I see him he takes off running til i corner him and then he locks his mouth closed til i can pry it open!!! He is a mess!!! :) lol But I love him dearly I just don't want him to get something in his mouth that will hurt him!!!:animal36 |
My baby picks up all the things he shouldn't, and none of the things he should! He practically refuses to eat his food, but loves playing with paper, clothes, wrappers... |
I am with you on this...today on a walk Bella ate 3 pebbles. I couldn't get them out of her mouth. The walk was over after the third. |
Mine used to do that when they were younger. They have calmed down alot as they have aged |

Conner is 14 months old, and he still picks up things he shouldn't. I have to watch him very closely when we go to my sister's house. She has two small kids and last time he went there, he had a santa eraser and a candy wrapper in his mouth at the same time. He has gotten a little better, but not much. |
Yupppp thats Mickey for sure! EVERYTHING! His little nose is constantly to the ground looking for what he can pick up next! Little Monster....! :2hearts2: |
lol my girls do the same thing. I had to teach them "drop it" other wise they would run and chew on it at the same time. Like haha mommy try to get it from me now :-p As they get older they grow out of it. (Bunny's 2 and Bella's 1) They still do it time to time but not as bad any more. |
lol yup they never out grow it, mine were doing really good UNTILL my grandson dropped his binkey, oh my gosh they had it chewed up in no time, we laughed:D but now we keep better track of all his things when he is here. |
Jake is 10 mos. old and still picks up things. I have to be very careful to make sure that nothing is on the floor that he can pick up and eat. Seems like I'm always vacuuming because he'll eat a piece of lint if he sees one. I also have to keep the bathroom door shut so he doesn't try to get into the trash. I try to keep it empty as much as possible. He seems to be getting better about it as he gets older though. |

YorkieTime07: You painted a picture of Autumn down to things being locked shut in her mouth. I can not figure out how such a small dog can lock their jaws closed like they do. Thank god my finger is not in there! |
my baby loves to chew on paper, mulch, and anything that hits the floor that's within her reach. She is fast as lightening when we are trying to get whatever she has in her mouth. |

is that not amazing and i mean his jaws are locked tight and he will turn his head every which way so i can't get to it!!! :) lol and i have to make sure i hold him tightly but gently so as not to make him hurt himself trying to get away from me!!! boy he is something !!!! and then he makes me madder when he will stand right in front of me chewing on something he knows he shouldn't and then when i make a move to get him ..off he runs!!!! :) lol Hey at least we get exercise with the Yorkie Run!!! |

Chewy is the same way, one time I found a drill bit in his mouth! One thing that has helped, whenever I see he has something in his mouth, I say "Bring it here" and he knows if he drops it in my hand I'll give him a treat. I have a jewelry store where I make the jewelry, and I'm always dropping beads. Now as soon as he hears one drop, he'll race over and get it, bring it back and drop it in my hand. Much better than before when he would get the beads and try to eat them! |

no you do not!! you just described romeo. i am constantly taking something out of his little mouth and sometimes i have to wrestle him for it! it is a blessing that i have not had to rush him to the vet ER and have somthing removed. |
Duke carries off socks and underwear also... seems you just can't leave them within his reach. I had to put the clothes baskets up higher when he learned he could jump into them. Quote:

romeo did this last night - trotted my underwear over to hand to my son!! |
I tell mine that his mouth is like a vice grip. And, he will be two next week and has not grown out of it yet. |
Mine is exactly the same, always carrying gross stuff from outside (we live on a farm) into the house. I sweep a lot:rolleyes: But a scary thing happened the other day. He pulled my bag off the coffee table and took a glass with it. The glass broke and he promptly had glass shards in his mouth:eek: !! I had to lock him in the bathroom while I cleaned up (he is 4 months old). It was so scary, luckily I got the glass out before he could bite or swallow it. |
You all make me feel so much better. I am so glad that I am not alone. My Maggie constantly has something in her mouth....leaves/rocks/dirt/socks/underwear/hair ties/hair bows/ hair barettes...not to mention last night she was playing with a dead wasp.... Winston has never touched anything that is not his. Maggie finds the tiniest off the beaten path whatever. You can always tell by how excited she gets. That little mouth gets so tight too. Oh she is 14 months, so how long will it be before she out grows this. Please give me hope. |
