wicker dog basket for bike..cool 1 Attachment(s) Someone on my Biewer Board purchased one of these and had photos of her with her two little dogs in it, I thought this was neat because it has the grate that can go over the top of the basket for more security. I actually purchased one today myself. My two dogs weigh too much to put them both in the basket at once, but this way I can at least get out and enjoy my bike and have one of my buddies with me at the same time. I think it will help if your dog is used to a crate. Anyways, thought it was cool and wanted to share.. kathy P.S. The cost was 75.00 (free shipping). I can't remember where I ordered it from as I'm at work, but you can google, as there are several companies that sell it... |
Kathy, When you get your basket we want to see pictures of you riding. also the website that has baskets with the cover--can't find it with a cover. |

Update??? I want to see too please. Thinking of getting one... Let us know how it works!!! :D |
Very nice sturdy basket! Another option besides the top grate is to put a harness on them upside down, so the D ring in on the tummy and then clip them in with a short tether to the bottom of the basket. That way they don't have to be caged in. One thiing that I have used that worked well is to get a small choke chain collar (not as a collar) and thread it through the bottom of the basket then take the two ends with a small clip (the kind that was originally for rock climbing, can't remember that it is called) and attach it to the D ring and through the two ends of the choke chain. It is about the right length and they can't chew through it. Get them used to riding in baskets while they are young and they won't get too freaked out at first. |
For the past week or so, I've seen a gal riding by my house with a Yorkie in a body sling draped over her shoulders and the Yorkie seated in front. I'm thinking the basket might be a good option for Ozzie as he would probably strangle me with that sling thing. (He weighs 13.5 pounds.):) |
I've been looking at baskets to put Sukoshi in while I ride my bike, and I hadn't found any I really liked yet...but this is pretty cool! I was looking for something with a tether in it, but the grate thing would definitely work! I just wish it was a little smaller. Sukoshi is small enough that she'd have to stand up the whole time or she wouldn't be able to see out. I'll keep this in mind though - thanks! |

Also if she wrecked she would risk smashing the dog by landing on it. |

You could put a little pillow in it or a folded up blanket to raise her up. |
Longaberger made a bike basket (not specifically for dogs) that was great.:) |
