My Baby Ignors My Boyfriend! Help...
 

My little Bailey is sooo loyal to me! She goes almost everywhere with me and follows me around the house, she never is away from my side unless i go out without her. Anyway my boyfriend and I bought bailey together (we live together) Shes really weird about my boyfriend, she loves him and i know this, but if im ANYWHERE in the house she wont pay attention to him at all!If he picks her up on our bed to hold her, she wont stop squirming and crying until she can get over to me. I taught her how to fetch in about 2 mins. and she does it really well, but if daddy trys to play fetch with her, he throws the toy, and she runs, gets it and then brings it back to mommy. She absolutely refuses to bring it back to daddy. Weve even tryed my boyfriend standing up and blocking her from getting to me, but she always manages to run and squeeze by to get to mommy. He says that when im not around she will play fetch with him, but im just wondering if anyone else has experianced this with their little baby. I know yorkies are said to be 1 person dogs, but my boyfriend has been there just as much as I have, and its just weird that she goes to great lengths to ignor and or avoid him! I like that she is so loyal to me, but I feel bad for my boyfriend. He loves her and she is like our little girl but she just dosnt seem to care for him at all.... any suggestions???? Help us....

Have you tried letting your boyfriend be the main caregiver? Like feeding, bathing, walking Bailey. We had similiar problems when Winston was the only child. It really does help. My husband comes home to let the furkids out every day at lunch, he spends at 10-15 minutes just playing with Winston and Maggie.

My Bella is the same way....she much prefers me over dad. If he's there, he'll do, but when I come in it's over. And it never fails, when she sees me, the reverse sneeze comes on and some times even a piddle! I agree with above.....have dad do the caregiving for awile if possible, see if she doest warm up a bit. I know when my kids get hurt or need something they will run a mile past dad to get to me too. I think it's just something about a mom?? Not taking away from dads AT ALL I mean seriously....cracks me up in the NFL when they score a td camera in face and they say HI MOM....LOVE IT!!!!! :D Now you can assume it was dad who worked with him in the football department (although I get out there with my son and play quite often lol). the female prefers my husband...happiest when she is sitting in the Lazyboy with him. She gives him a look to melt the soul...

Just different personalities. Maybe you need another yorkie LOL

Teddy was the same way with me when he was younger. She might grow out of it.

We are actually in the market for a little boy or girl right now... still looking for just the right one....

When i first got gracie she slept with me every night then for a while she started sleeping with my parents which made me upset cuz i love cuddling with her at night well just recently she started sleeping with me again lol so you never know! Who knows what goes through those little yorkie heads!

My little guy loves me and my boyfriend. He is more cuddly with me and gives me kisses (he won't give my boyfriend kisses:D ) but he loves to play with my boyfriend and even goes to the lake fishing with him. He just has a different kind of relationship with each of us. I think you should try to have your boyfriend do some special things with her, like teach her a new trick or a new game, feed her, bathe her, take her with him somewhere... and that way they can develop a special relationship apart from the one she has with you.

She'll still think of you as her special mommy and may still have a preference for you, but she won't be as hesitant to also love be with her daddy. Good luck, and welcome to yorkie talk!!!!!!

I agree that you should let your boyfriend be the one to feed her and walk her until she warms up to him more. If you let him do these things, she'll bond a bit more with him. Also, maybe he can be the one to give her treats. Good luck! Oh, and I don't believe that all yorkies are one person doggies. Our yorkie loves my husband and I sooo much, and I believe he loves us equally.

My yorkie is like my shadow, and he's very much a mommy's boy, but he plays alot with my husband too. I'm home all day with him, then I go to work in the eve., and my husband is home with him. So, he's used to both of us being his caregivers. Try having your boyfriend give him a bath or let him do some of the feedings, brushings, etc. As much as some of them hate baths and brushing, it's still a form of bonding. If you both share in the responsibilities of taking care of him, he will soon learn that daddy can be pretty fun to play with too.:) Having said that, he will only snuggle up with mommy at night lol. this might sound crazy, but i really think they no the diff between mommy & daddy, mine are with me all day, when hubby comes home they greet him kiss him all that great stuff, but a min later all 3 are right back by my side:D my little girl is the worse, i dont think she knows shes a yorkie:rolleyes:
