Mad at me? I left my dog at home all day (8-5) for the first time today. He's 6 months old now and had plenty of entertainment in the kitchen where he was. Of course he was excited to see me when we got home. We went for a run and when I got in the shower he pooed in my favorite slippers. When we were watching tv and I wasn't paying him as much attention as he would have liked, he peed on the blanket that we were on 6 times. He's been crate trained from the start and has got the whole outside thing pretty down. What is he trying to tell me? Does he feel neglected or is he trying to dominate? |
:grin2: I don't mean to laugh... but I do think he is pissed off! |

I guess those are not your favorite slippers anymore. LOL:D |
vberkley I agree he is definitely ticked off at you. My little one is home all day alone while I work and she has separation anxiety but she has never done that out of spite. I do however leave newspapers on a boot tray for her to use should she have an emergency while I am gone. Her use for the papers are to shred them into very tiny pieces and spread them all over the kitchen floor. But she still makes me laugh when I get home and she is hiding around the corner of the kitchen and peeks out and looks over at me then runs over and starts twirling in circles. She is just so funny that I can't be mad at the mess. Good luck, Jay :aimeeyork :aimeeyork :aimeeyork |
Why does everyone rush to use the word dominant? No, you left him alone all day. He didn't get "plenty of entertainment" if he was alone. Loki's favorite thing in the whole world is a puzzle toy and even that only keeps him occupied for 30 minutes tops. I have no idea why he pooped in your shoe - that's just wierd - but dogs don't hold grudges. Maybe that's a good way for him to get attention, but not to dominate you. Loki leaves toys in my husbands shoes all the time, maybe that's a good place to store them! I bet you fed him when you got home and then he had to go... and you were in the shower. If he is crate trained then he needs to be in his crate when you can't watch him. |

I'm just saying that boredom or attention seeking are a million times more likely than dominance. You did the right thing by going for a jog. You probably just need to time the bathroom trips better in the evening. I know mornings and evenings are our difficult times for Sammy. She will even go out and poop and then come in and go again! (She's 1 but we've only had her a little while). You just need to get a routine down. |
Hi welcome to YT He may just need to adjust a little to the new schedule. Glad you can join us:) |
