Another Dog? My yorkie Champ just turned a year old. I just got him potty trained. I was thinking about getting another dog, maybe a miniature dachshund. I know I would have to go through all the training again. I worry about if they would get along. Has anyone had or dachshund and a yorkie? Or even two yorkies? Is it alot harder with two? |
I've had two dogs in the past. I had a Yorkie and a poodle/peke mix. They were three years apart and I didn't find it hard at all. Both of them are gone now and I now have one Yorkie and he will be two next week. I just recently started considering getting another one. When he was one I was not yet ready for another. He was still quite the handful for me. But now I think maybe it would be OK. He has matured some in this last year. |
We have a yorkie and a maltese, and they get along great! I don't find it any more difficult than one. They keep each other company and love playing together and laying together. |
2 yorkies I have two yorkies. My first,Chloe, was a year old when I was asked to take Maddi (a year old also.) The owner could not train her. I must say in the beginning, they did not like each other at all. They barked at each other for about 2 hours the first time they met. I did separate them when I went to work because I thought they might hurt each other. In time, they learned that they were both here to stay and finally accepted each other. Maddi was trained by Chloe. We would go for a walk together, Chloe would pee and Maddi would pee on top of Chloe's pee. She still does it today, 5 years later. She will search the yard if Chloe goes our first until she finds the scent and then pees on top of it. They get along great, but no one gets a kiss, a pet, or a hug without the other one getting one too. I LOVE them both so much.. Good luck.:aimeeyork :animal36 |
My mom has a dachsund and me and my b/f have a yorkie... and they get along pretty well!! He ddint like my baby at first.. but know he doesnt really care that hes there!!!! |
We have a pug and a yorkie and at first the pug would not even go anywhere near the yorkie but after 8 weeks my pug is really enjoying having the yorkie here. I have always had two dogs at once and I find that it gives them company and someone to play with when you are busy doing something else. Keep us posted.:animal-pa |
hi, i have 3 yorkies, 2 boys one little girl, and they all get along very well,its so fun to watch them play, and of course karleigh is the boss and both the guys know it;) |
