lifetime warranty? i read on other sites before that it would be best if you could find a breeder who will give you a "lifetime warranty", in which if for whatever reason you can't take care of it anymore no matter how old it has become you can return it back to the owner? (im assuming you give it back for free, not sell it back)... are there breeders that really do this? just curious.. |
ive seen breeders with lifetime warranties. Most are show breeders or very small breeders who only have a couple of litters a year |
Yes, many reputable breeders will do this. Reason: They want to know that their puppies go to homes where they will be loved forever and if for any reason you can't take care of that dog anymore, they don't want it to end up in a shelter. They don't want the puppy in another home that they have not preapproved and know that the dog will be loved. So, if you can't keep the dog anymore, they want the dog back, so that they can keep it or they can find it another good home. |
No breeders will give a lifetime warranty on a puppy . They have a clause of returning the dog if you can't keep him or her . |
Usually it's called a home again policy when a breeder will take back a dog if the owners are unable to care for him/her. Yes..it's giving the dog back for free too. We ALWAYS let our puppy new owners know that if for any reason they can no longer keep their dog that we will either take the dog back - no money returned (we don't want one of our dogs in a shelter or anything!!) or help find a new wonderful and caring home for them. |

Lifetime warranty seems to imply they would "replace" the pup in some way (with a new pup or refund money, but I've never heard of this happening) or reimburse you for vet bills - like a manufacturer's defect or something lol. Strange choice of words if that's the term they use. |

I actually have the receipt for Stella noting the following "If any problems return for a full refund". |

i agree - that is very good. but very rare in my experience. i have never spoken with anyone that i know personally that got this when buying a dog. |

The any problems for a full refund is usually for medical problems. |
I do have a full refund policy for the first 10 days, which allows for any unforseen issues ( other pets not adjusting or whatever). I will also refund up to the purchase price to cover any vet bills incurred as the result of a congenital problem, without the return of the dog. Breeders know that 99% of people will not return a dog for a 'replacement pup' if there is a problem, so what kind of a guarantee is that? Family members are not replaceable. My lifetime return policy is for the reasons Yorkiluv mentioned....any pups I brought into the world are my reponsibility for the extent of their lives. All reputable breeders that I know do this. |
