male or female Do you prefer a male or female yorkie, and why? |
I love them both! Biddy (my girl) is protective & loyal & my best friend. Tucker (my boy) is my cuddle-bunny! He's the snuggly one! It;s funny because you would think it would be the opposite! |
both I have one each, they have such different personalities, both are adorable. Bronx is rambunctious, wild, loves to kiss and play. He is like a baby. His hair is curly. He pees three drops at the leg of every table or chair. :thumbdown Zowie is sweet, cautious with her kisses but she smiles. She is fast and runs like a bunny. Her hair is beautiful and silky - she is perfect. I wouldn't trade either for anything. :yorkiesar |
I have one of each also. The male is very active. The female is a sweet little lap dog. I prefer the female over the male just because she favors me and the male favors my husband. |
Males or females they are all adorables . I really love their personalities . |
You can't go wrong either way! I prefer females just because I like to do the bows and pretty pink sweater thing with her. |
I love both of mine the same! :D Mine have VERY different personalities. Roxy is more independant and is an explorer, Gibson is shy and timid and more of a lapdog. :animal-sm |
To blab on, before my 'break' is over; We got Zowie and Bronx together. I am so happy we decided on two. They are twice the fun, and they keep each other company. I am not sure I would have the energy to keep up with one. They run and run, play hide and seek - it is such entertainment. Since Zowie started this baby thing, Bronx drives us all crazy cause he has so much energy and needs us all so much more. I can't wait til Zowie and he can be back together. |
Male or Female I wanted girls, I guess because I did not want to deal with the male "marking" issue. They could not be more different, from personality to size and coloring. However, I read where yorkies were like potato chips, you could not just have one and it's true, I just had to get another one, so why not try one of each? |
I like females simply because I don't want to see their "Red Rocket" Ha! But both are nice dogs---that's the Yorkie for you! Pat |
Actually , I have two females . If I have the chance to have another one , I will never hesitate to choose a male . IMO , they are all adorables . I love yorkie's personalities . |
i love them both! I had Oreo first, he's a boy.. and he was perfectly fine.. and when I got Ginger, they were even better together! I love yorkies and wouldn't mind getting a 4th :D seeing as i have 2 girls and a boy at the moment. |
Here is a past thread that might help you out. It also has links to other similar threads in the past. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7379 I can't really tell you about girls, since I only have one Yorkie and he is a boy, but I LOVE Peanut - I would have no hesitations about getting a boy again. Hope this helps! :) |
1 Attachment(s) You can't go wrong either way, but I couldn't dress my boy in ribbons/bows and pink, like I do my girl, without giving him an identity complex. Plus I agree with Pat, I don't know if I want to see any red rockets around the house...haha |
I have 2 girls and 1 boy. When I have gone to get a puppy I always just see which one has that special thing to me. When I got Maddie I was going to look at the male and came home with her. You will know which is the right one for you when you see the right furbaby. Can't go wrong with either. |
Well, at this point in my life, I have only girls: Chelsea Marie, Maggie Anne, Molly Kate, and (soon to be) Mackenzie Nicole. (Do you get the impression, I'm hung up on "double names"? Actually, it's all about naming them for their "god mothers"... We're Catholic, and they have to be someone's God Dog!) I formerly had male dogs...particularly my BELOVED Choochie (who was with me for 17 years). The problem was they wanted to mark about everything taller than them...and since most of the world was..... I love them all equally. I do, however, like not having to worry about the marking issue. (And, BTW, all of our male dogs were neutered VERY YOUNG, so that wasn't a solution for us!) |
Well I want to add my 2 cents. I LOVE the boy personality. I think they are so much fun. As young as Mignon is she is far more independent than either of my boys. And she is a sweet, loving, fun girl too. I just think a neutered male makes a wonderful pet. I have never had a problem with either of my males marking. |

Female!! I prefer female, although I have not gotten my yorkie baby yet. I will be getting her toward the end of July and I am so excited. I wanted a girl so I can dress her up in pretty pink bows and show her off. :) |
I've had both male & female dogs before & currently have 2 male dogs and must say I prefer the male 'personality' over the female personality as well. My female dogs (never yorkies) were very independant and not as affectionate as my males have been. |
My boy is the best :) Though my next dog is definitely going to be a female Malt. |
Hmmmm...Since I have female's Id say females are cool. Why? Cuz I have one. But, if I had a male Id have to say males are cool. Why? Cuz I have one....Seriously, it's a personal choice. I have always had females vs male's and tend to care more for females. |
