baby at work... hey guy my little bailey has been going to work with me since i first got her (at 3 months) now shes 6 months and im having problems with her. She goes crazy whenever she sees a customer and starts whimpering and crying until i let her go meet the people. Then SHE WONT STOP trying to get to them until they leave the store. Its becoming a huge distraction at work and now im getting in trouble because she distracts the customers! How do I train her to CALM DOWN! When she meets people.... |
have you been to obedience?? Layla is also at work with my parents... and i found that since being to obedience she now listens... she knows to go to her bed and stay there until she has been invited to say hello... and she knows "off" for when she tries to jump.. because she is still a puppy i'd suggest putting a leash on her so she knwos her place is next to you in your little "area" and work on sit and stay with her... and then "ok" to release and let her know it is ok to go greet someone.. but obedience obedience obedience.. it was pricless for us! |
where did u take her for classes. was it 1 on 1 or in a group. bailey went to puppy classes in a group but didnt benrfit much from it. |
Layla did not do puppy classes and i think those are more for socialization... layla has taken beginner and intermediate at PetSmart, but it was all about our trainer who was amazing.. you might consider a few one on one sessions to get the basics... and it is just practice practice practice.. i think until you get this done your best bet is a leash. i'd hate to see you get in trouble because of your pup and then not be allowed to have him at work... he WILL settle down.. layla still gets SO excited to see people.. her whole little body moves.. but in her bed... sometimes she will get out to go say hi and i remind her where she belongs and back she goes.. i often tell people when they come in if they just say hi to her she will settle down.. which Layla does.. but if your guy jsut gets MORE excited by being petted.. you might encourage them to leave him alone until he behaves.. by them saying hi to him they are rewarding his excitment and jumping or whatever, but if he can only be petted when he is calm.. he'll get the picture.. it will take a few weeks of hard work on your part but before you know it people will be commenting on how well behaved he is :) |
