How Long did you wait before getting your second Yorkie??? okay you guys are making life really really hard for me!!! I have Nathan who is 6 months old!!! Love him dearly!!! But now with seeing all the sweet little girls!! and the outfits etc!! I want a girl too!!!!:D But how long do I wait???? Is it harder raising two??? How do you handle both taking them out on outings and trips???? Nathan isn't fixed yet so do i wait for that first...what about his sister to be going in heat!!!! aaaaaaaaaghhhhhh :lol tears My life will never be the same now!!!! Never thought i said I want another baby!!!!!! Help |
Aye go on get 1 now. At the most it will give you 6 months to get Nathen fixed, as a girl can come into heat in her first 6 months. I now have 3 yorkies and am still looking for my Maltese. I say the more the merrier. lol |
I'm a sucker - I bought 2 right out the gate. Now I'm looking for 2 more sisters to add. |

We got Rowdy in April and got Rexy the next March - so not quite a year! Best thing we ever did was to get another - wish we'd done it sooner! |

My girls are so good, not to say they don't have their moments but I have to say that overall they are so precious I have no idea how I ever lived without them. I'm thinking if I can find just the right 2 sisters to add to our family we can go on the road and do a sister act. :D I say go for it - add another, just keep in mind your current pups temperment and add a complimentary temperment rather than just buying a pretty face. |
I got mine 1 month apart from each other |
I waited 2 years and got an older rescue. I haven't regretted it and wish I'd done it sooner. |
We have 2 boyz and we got them a few months apart....Jo was about 10 months old when we got Riley and he was 4 months old. The housetraining wasn't really any harder, if one went out the other did too and he copied the first one. When we travel they go with us, the only real difference there is it takes 2 of us to walk them. Regular up-keep isn't too different because we do our own grooming, food isn't really any more expensive because they don't eat that much and when I buy toys I buy 2 at a time. The only real difference I see for me is...it's a little more crowded at bed/nap time and vet bills are double...but playtime is a blast with 2! |
I waited a little over a year to get my 2nd, but had puppy fever long before that!!! You definitely want to get you little guy neutered before you bring home a little girl to reduce the tendency to hump just for the heck of it........ |
I really want to get another yorkie, but I can't decide if I want a girl or boy! A little girl would be so nice to have, but then a brother for Jake would be great too! Jake is such a mommy's boy and tends to get a little jealous so I wonder how he would be with another puppy in the house. That's my husband's big thing, he thinks Jake wouldn't want to share me. But, I think he'd have fun with a playmate. I guess from the practical side of things, it's double vet bills, double baths and grooming, etc. But, it's double the fun in spoiling and playing with them!:) |

I'm waiting until after the summer to start looking for a little girl. I'm a summer person and don't want to get a puppy until I'm home most of the time for the first few months. Max should be a little over a year and 1/2 by the time I get one. I really want to shop around and buy a home bred puppy. I don't mind traveling either, and I totally agree about compatible temperaments. I never had one animal alone and I don't really like it for Max. Like right now, I'm online, so he's sleeping by my feet. If he had a sister, he'd be playing (or they'd both be sleeping by my feet!) |
